Saw Outbreak and Man of Steel recently. Really enjoyed Man of Steel, actually. Being as ignorant of the Superman lore as I am, I don't care about accuracy and omissions as much as some people seem to be and I really enjoyed the movie for what it was. Next on the list: World War Z. Good reviews from friends so far.
I agree with everyone and anyone who disliked Man of Steel, and disagree with anyone who liked it. It just sucked. I frickin love monsters inc, so looking forward to university. But I'm hella pumped for The End, so I'm watching it next. Dude what a cast. It just looks epic, and it's getting excellent reviews to boot. I don't know why I saw MoS instead. I was kicking myself the second Crowe hopped on the dragonfly. I haven't even given World war Z a second thought since the first trailer I saw. Looks boring as hell.
Did Man of Steel really suck, k1lljoy? Did it? What sucked about it, exactly? All right, quick reviews: Monsters University: Super funny and pleasant film that maybe felt a tad too long. It was only an hour and 45 minutes, but something about it was boring me to death at certain points. Luckily, since it's a Pixar film, the animation was beautiful and they hid little jokes everywhere... so at least if I was bored, I could look forward to laughing at -something- on the screen! Lovely little movie. It doesn't reach the heights of Pixar's Golden Age (Toy Story 3 and back), but it also doesn't sink to the lows of Cars 2 or the abomination that is Brave (different rant for a different day). Completely recommend it. 7.987 World War Z: Wow... the trailers misled me immensely. The movie took me completely by surprise. I thought it looked like a boring piece of crap nasty movie with no passion put into it and just being put out there as a quick cash-in on the popular novel... but it ended up being an excellent film, in my opinion. I thought it felt more like an independent movie, personally. I don't understand how the CGI could have been so lackluster since the budget was $200 million... but I also wonder if the actual movie cost about $20 million before all the reshoots and rewrites. Even though the CGI was perhaps rather elementary and silly, I actually think it added to the feel of the film and I am convinced it was purposely made to look weird and cheap because I don't see how they could have portrayed the zombies any other way. They were completely different from what I've come to expect from zombies... they broke all the rules that have been thus far, in my opinion, and that's a wonderful point to add to the film's rating. These zombies are quick as a bullet, relentless in their assault, and are practically invincible until you shoot them or smash them in the head. It worked for this movie. I was taken aback by the many themes and ideas on display in the film, as well. The story was never predictable, I was freaking out at certain points because of the suspense, and the music was wonderful, though maybe not as prominent as it should have been. I was emotionally invested in the film from the very beginning. I was rooting for all the main characters from the start, and each time they were put in danger I was terrified who would die next. A lot of reviews have said there's a point when the film feels completely disjointed from the scenes that preceded it, and it's apparent where the reshoots and rewrites were... but I was looking for that and couldn't find it. It is true that the third act of the film feels different from the rest, but it never feels out-of-place and disjointed. It makes sense to me, and it's a very logical way to conclude the film. Another great thing is the proposed cure for the infected... it's something that completely goes against the rules, as the zombies did as well. Everything went against the rules of everything we've been taught. It's an amazing movie and I think if you are looking for a zombie film with deep philosophical elements and ponderances, with a great story to boot, and some amazing acting (save for one of the kids), you should give this film a chance. Think of the CGI as deliberately unique and strange, and that should help you a lot. Warning, though: If you're sensitive to animal harm or animal death, close your eyes during the opening credits... among other things, I saw flashes of dead dolphins, a dead whale, two wolves ripping apart some animal... and there was probably even more that I didn't see because I had my eyes closed. Just a big warning. But as for the rest of the movie, no more animal killings or deaths. The opening credits animal stuff is also all stock footage.... so it's all real 8.794/10 Super Troopers: Just as funny as I remember. A little slow and predictable at points, but still fun. Too bad Club Dread was the beginning of Broken Lizard's downfall
Gods yes. I was so excited about Club Dread and Beerfest with how much I absolutely loved ST, it's still one of my favorite comedies of all time. At least Chandrasekhar has been working hard with his tv directing, but everything else he's involved with is a massive turd. He's basically m. Night Shamalamadingdong, although with all of its flaws, The Sixth Sense is still a better movie, big we ignore how drastically different the two are.
@Cheify: Welcome back from the dead. Watched Batman Year One. Great movie. Also watched The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 again. Great movie man. I prefer supes, but batman also has good movies. Hoping MoS isn't bad. Seeing a big divide among people.
Yes. Everything. ..except Amy Adams. But seriously, I even hated the sounds. Acting was okay, except for Zod's... The scripting was just terrible. Shallow dialog, predictable and depthless development, Too much pointless, over the top CGI action that literally had me bored and longing for The End. The End meaning the This Is, but it could mean the ending of man of steel just as easily. It just wasn't memorable at all.
I disagree. Shallow characters, mindless CGI action, weak writing. Not terrible, but very far from amazing.
Do you like the new superman movie better than the old ones or do you like the old ones better? Edit: One of the thing that annoyed me about the movie was when superman got hit with bullets, it sometimes seemed like he got knocked back a little. Also, the flashbacks were a bit annoying too
You don't have to be big into the lore of superman, I'm not, to know this movie sucked. I kind of enjoyed it at first. Then I was just waiting for the end. Once it was over I threw my popcorn on the ground with the conclusion that this frickin sucked. The worst part is, I COULD HAVE WATCHED THIS IS THE END!!!
I wouldn't say the movie sucked, but it was far from amazing, and was pretty ridiculous to the point of hilarious at parts. Kind of a 65~70 for me. Mostly because Superman looked hot and Amy Adams did a great job.
I just can't express how happy I am that they didn't use lex luthor again. Still liked it better than all the other Superman movies But that's just my opinion.
