Yeah, it's just a fun book/series for young adults to get through quickly. My brother read all of them in third grade within a week, lol.
Saw Jack Reacher recently, now that it's out on DVD here. Quite a decent flick, really funny at times. Anyone got a fairly recent averagely-popular Sci-Fi movie? I've probably seen the most popular stuff. Thanks guys.
Hmmm, have you seen Lockout? Came out a couple years ago, I think. It was ok, not the best sci-fi movie ever, but it was entertaining.
Okay so I know this is way OT and not the thread for this, but someone needs to PM me the skinny on the chatroom On topic: I love Flushed Away. It's so damn funny. I love the in jokes like his wolverine suit and the Mary Poppins tuppence reference amongst oodles more.
I've been wanting to see Flushed Away. Did you see Pirates: Band of Misfits. Flippin' hilarious movie.
Arr... I have yet to see that tale. But I will! Mark me words.. I will see this sailor's tale. Just got netflix free trial. Tis cool.
the hunger games agree wife wanted to rent the Hunger games... i watched and was really bored, the weird theatrics, unrealistic thinking, bad CGI and bad acting too... she thought it was alright and wants to see the rest of the movie series. must be a girly or kids flick theme! just see a good runner like 'The Running Man", was way better and man-ly cool!
Blew threw the rest of Catching Fire just now, and I'm reasonably excited for the film in November. Might as well finish up reading the series in the next two days too. Think I'll read The Hobbit and the LOTR books after this. Never had the chance to read any besides the The Hobbit.
I just saw the movie "MaMa" and I must say that...it is the best comedy movie I've ever seen. It's supposed to be a horror movie
No. The HP books are written for a younger audience but dumbed down in the process - her writing style, especially in the first few books, is juvenile and too long-winded, making it rather painful for an older reader to slog through. The plot of formulaic and somewhat cliche. It's not bad, just simple. Rowling also uses the passive voice too often. I'm not alone in this opinion; there's a lot of criticism for her writing style among literary circles.
Saw two movies tonight; Mama and Warm Bodies. Both decent movies. Mama wasn't scary at all, but it was entertaining. Warm Bodies was a unique take on the zombie genre. I'd give them both 5/10. Not too bad, not great.
