RDJ was great as usual. It wasn't him I was disappointed in. I was disappointed in the script, the plot, Spoiler the ruining of the Mandarin , and pretty much everything besides RDJ.
Haven't seen Iron Man 3 yet - but looking forward to it, regardless. I don't really watch previews/trailers. I like seeing movies and being surprised. What other big movies are coming out this summer that are must watches?
There are few movies that match the WTF factor of Shaolin Soccer. Just watched it for the first time in many years. For upcoming movies..in May alone: The Great Gatsby, Star Trek, Fast and Furious 6, The Hangover: Part III.. Iron Man 3 was a good start to the month and Hollywood season.
Shaolin Soccer was awesome, though Kung Fu Hustle was way, way better. I'm terrifically intrigued with Gatsby...
I don't think so. They changed alot from the book and now the infection won't start in china anymore. Dang it.
Literature, paper media upon which there is typing used to perform the following: Convey Information Tell a story Analyze, propose, and argue various hypothesis Collect poetry into one collection Collect short stories and prose in one anthology The World War Z book is awesome. Don't wait or question. Get from your library Read it (Deep Computer Voice) THE UNIVERSE IS AT STAKE. (Saansilt) He is a big fan.
Just saw Gatsby, and I really liked it. Saw it in 2D though- didn't care to see it in 3D. It didn't really deviate from the book at all, and I think most of the lines were (more or less) lifted straight from it. They did cut a lot of the gossip (they literally fast forward/flash through it in a scene at the beginning) and the exploits of some of the characters, though it wasn't really a big surprise- or a big deal. Basically, the entire plot is just a big buildup to the end and the conclusion reached there. The movie is a perfect summary of the book though. I kind of wish they had more of Jordan and Nick though- they had a romantic relationship, but in the movie you don't really see much of it. It's definitely a kind of longish movie (2 1/3 hours, give or take), but it could have benefited from being a slight bit longer (maybe an extra 20 min, or another 40 to bring it up to three hours). Has great art direction, cinematography, and a fairly good soundtrack. I'd recommend it, unless you don't like a good drama. I'm actually kind of surprised at how good it was. Wasn't sure what to expect from Baz Luhrmann based on his last book to film adaption (Romeo and Juliet, which was terrible).
Personally, I had this kind of feeling floating around GG that it would just be bad, even with the star power. It's nice to see it getting quite a few positive reviews
Will probably wait until next weekend and see both GG and ST. Three and a half months of summer starts today, heh.
Watched The Departed again with some old friends. That is one damn good movie. The cast can't get much better. Same goes for the director.
