I saw Life of Pi a couple of weeks ago and quite enjoyed it. The tiger in the boat stuff got a little boring but overall a very good story. I missed seeing it in the theater in all of its 3D glory.
Yeah, Life of Pi was a pretty unique film. Some parts were a little weird; some were repetitive. Overall, it was a great experience though. Never read the book. The film did really well with the ending. End of Watch is one hell of a cop movie. Lots of adrenaline and laughs. It ends as they all end though.
Oblivion. I'm obviously oblivious to some deep, absurdly obtuse plot points, 'cause it's onerous to understand. The first 20 minutes were just brilliant. The latter half...well...some explanations obviously went into oblivion in the editing room. Me want to see Iron Man 3. Oh hey that rhymed.
Ugh. I couldn't finish that one. Just didn't click with me, and I usually love Crowe. Fabulous actor, egotistical person (was going to put something else in there but....)
Really? Everything clicked with me in this movie. And yeah, Crowe's a great actor. Have you seen 3:10 to Yuma?
So, I have put movies on the backburner for the last week or so, focusing on catching up on some TV shows. In particular, Frisky Dingo and Harvey Birdman. I gave Frisky a chance because of how much I love Archer and, well, well.. Wow. If you like archer, you owe it to yourself to watch Frisky, it's excellent and absolutely insane. Harvey Birdman is, well, just harvey. Ha ha, dangly bits! Colbert is brilliant in it, as is Gary Cole and, well, everyone else involved. I have seen a few films though. Well, sort of. I am halfway through Lincoln and um, it's very well acted but man I'm fighting to stay really interested. I've gotten though just over An hour though, and I will probably finish the rest tomorrow. Maybe. And then Skyfall. Yep. Skyfall. So I REALLY enjoyed Casino Royale when it came out, skipped Quantum due to various reasons but I was really excited about Skyfall. I thought them bringing Mendes on as a director was a really interesting choice, and it was clear he was aiming for a "Dark Knight" feel to the series. In some ways he succeeded with that, however it seemed like he was trying to copy and paste the dramatic scenes from Batman. The scene with Bond standing ominously atop the building was just sigh worthy. As for the rest of the film? A big, fat, gargantuan meh. It felt by the numbers, cliche and it was utterly forgettable. The film didn't necessarily fail in any ways, it just never felt interesting. Nor did it ever really FEEL like a bond film. And, no, the sly nods in passing comments and the appearance of a classic bond staple weren't endearing, they just felt... ironic. And not in a good way. I clearly don't mind "boring" action films, but this was JUST boring. And what the hell was with Bardem!? Yeesh.
I didn't mind Skyfall, but the pacing seems really off in the recent Bond movies. Also I'm not sure the new-found realism is really that much fun. I liked the ridiculous henchmen and impossible gadgets.
Yeah just go watch Hot Fuzz instead. But only after you watch Shaun of the Dead. I watched them both again yesterday with my cousins. Lol. My two favorite comedies.
