    I couldn't list my top 5.

All I know is #1 is Pulp Fiction

9 can be my top 5 BECAUSE. I. SAY SO.

If you have a problem, come at me bro. Dya feel lucky, punk? Well, do ya??

I'm still disappointed in your takeaway from TWBB. I could endlessly watch that movie. From the beginning where there is no talking for 10+ minutes to the musical swells throughout. There are so many scenes worth their weight, it's innumerable. The ending was a great cap to the whole thing, but it was far from the most exciting part. DDL alone made the film so brilliant that nothing more needs to be said. God, the music. It was SO good. The whole silence, too, was taken from some of the most amazing French new wave films like Le Cercle Rouge and Rififi, which have huge scenes of complete silence. I knew I was going to love the movie the minute it started. I'm glad I saw it on the big screen.

Yeah that deserves to be on any list, but at the same time I don't really see it as an action film, really. It's a dramedy with some action but... Yeah, let's add that in there. I don't think anything will kick something like Lethal Weapon out of my top spot, since I have such fond childhood memories of that film.

I'm still disappointed with Almost Famous. :(

Really? The Bourne trilogy & Avengers? The Matrix? (good but cheesy and almost a comedy) I would think you'd have one of the Indiana Jones movies in there, along with a 007 movie or two.

@ Kenny you just got out of timeout for language. For your sake I'd suggest keeping it PG and under.

I love IJ, but at the same time I think it's a bit of an overrated series. Though I do also, hold onto your horses... think the same of Star Wars. Though I LOVE IJ a lot more than the SW series.

I'm also not a 007 fan, I like some of the movies but I never really got into the series. And let's be realistic, some of the villain names? Octopussy? Pussy Galore? Holly Goodhead? I just have to shake my head at the overwhelming silliness. But I appreciate why people like them, and maybe one day I will more... but for now, nah.

And how can you not love the Bourne movies? Those are some of the best action films of all time. Smartly written with some AMAZING acting. They're movies that finally got me on the side of Damon, he was so great. They're one of the first action movies that got me on the edge of my seat, too, which is something I can't say about a lot.

And do I REALLY need to justify how perfect The Avengers are/is? I love Whedon, and Avengers was perfection. Just awesome.

If you think about it, really it so isn't. Look at the critical reception of the movies, look at where they stand in amongst their brethren. Just because I like seemingly strange movies otherwise, doesn't mean I don't like a lot of "big budget" popcorn movies :)

And did I miss something? I didn't see Kenny say anything bad?

The problem with my top 5, is not all of my favorite movies are necessarily the best.

I'd really, really want to put the Fast and the Furious series in there somewhere. One of my favorite series ever. But it's.. you know.

Bourne was just too unrealistic IMO. It tried to be a "this could really happen" kind of movie and failed miserably.

    Haha, I kid I kid. It's not a film for everyone, I agree :)

Anyway, watched Capote last night. A remarkable film. Hoffman's performance was outstanding. Had a real connection with the film despite it being something I wouldn't typically watch.

Makes me want to read his book now...

Truth. So many good action scenes in crap movies. One of favourite fight scenes ever is in Troy between Achilles and Hector. The rest of the movie sucked.

Oh and I want to swap Couching Tiger into my number 3 spot for action movies. Awesome. I watched it again at Sydney Opera House a couple weeks ago with the Symphony doing the score live witht the original composer Tan Dun. Was epiiiic

The pic is obviously Hero. He did three flicks

Best schmest. Hudson Hawk is a critical disaster, but is one of my all time favorite films. Good characters are the most important for me in regards to an action movie.

For me they were infinitely entertaining. No movie is realistic, that's why they're movies ;). I never felt that they were trying to be that realistic, no more than the Bond films were, the subject matter was a bit more rooted in the real world politics so maybe that's where you're getting that from? The fight scenes in the series are some of the best choreographed I've seen, especially coming out of the west.

When I go in for an action movie, I can happily suspend my disbelief. To a degree that is. The 4th Die Hard movie, however, was a bit daffy... But Bourne, no. Those movies kicked some major butt, and I have loads of love for them.

They're intelligent films, and are brilliantly made. I find very few faults with them.

Ooh, I forgot to add fight club to my list.

Hoffman is awesomeness. He was quite good in The Master, though Phoenix stole the show by and large.

I've never read In Cold Blood, though Capote hung with some of my fav people.. Ugh, I need to get back to reading.

Yeah, I agree with you. Troy had some pretty epic battle scenes, and matched those with epic scenes of crap. I don't think Petersen was the right person to direct it, and David Benioffc wasn't able to handle that kind of an epic film. He's clearly improved, Game of Thrones is pretty freaking awesome but also a smidge easier to adapt than an epic by Homer.

Dude I would KILL KILL KILL to see CT in that way. My god, it would be stellar.

I remember going with some work friends to see it in the theater. It was so busy we had to sit in the front row. My neck was SO FREAKING SORE. Never will I do that again. Trying to read subtitles and watch the action that up close sucked serious fart.

Hmm, maybe I'll watch that tonight. It's been years and years since I've seen it.

Oooh, another rocking movie that is hands down awesomeness? Kung Fu Hustle!

Ooooooooooooh, Ninja was a bad boy. I can just picture him sitting in a corner with his back to the classroom ;)

Naughty boy! Now be good or you'll have to go see the principal!

    Oh, last thing.

    Tarzan is FREAKING AWESOME!!

^^^ Kung Fu Hustle is so incredible! I want to be in the Axe Gang.
I remember when it came out in same kind of period as Sin City. Cinema just felt like it was exploding with flavor.

Sydney Symphony is doing heaps of similiar things. In November they are doing LOTR 3 with Howard Shore in house composing. I want go but I'm too broke

Yup. His portrayal of Capote was fantastic. Well-deserved Oscar for his role.

Man, I had never heard of the Master before, and then I see it was released in 2012 with a 7.3 IMDB and 8.6 Metacritic rating?

    Watch listed! :)
