TOP 5 COMEDIES EVA? (no particular order)

    Mine would probably be:
    Zoolander
    The Life Aquatic
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid
    Team America
    Knocked Up

I know some of these might not be straight up comedies but I belly laugh in all of them so they make the cut

People always talk about the fart scene from Blazing Saddles as the funniest scene everbut I almost die every time I watch the vomiting scene from Team America. It's perfect

I'm struggling to recall even one movie I really love for the humour. There are some I like, but not because they're hilarious. The best comedy seems to come from sitcoms and panel shows.

I can see that. I do find some of the best laughs come from good TV shows. Raising Hope makes me laugh regularly. Scrubs is one of my all time favorites. Of course there's Archer, Harvey birdman and Family Guy which, well, awesome :)

Intouchables, though, was one of the first movies in a long time that made me laugh uncontrollably. If you haven't seen it yet, you have to.

I tried watching Team America. Then I stopped. Ugh, I never enjoyed South Park. EVER and Team America was that but worse. Just thinking about that steaming pile of crap makes me glad I'll never have to watch it voluntarily.

I enjoy Zoolandse. knocked Up and Butch Cassidy, which is awesome to be on the list because of how different it is from the rest.

That's the thing about comedy, it's supremely subjective. I didn't laugh once at Superbad and I felt similarly about Hangover, Bridesmaids, Step brothers, Get him to the Greek, Old School and similar films.

For me, old Mel Brooks films, Dr. Strangelove, I Love You man, Role Models, Austin Powers, Crazy Stupid Love, City Slickers, Trading Places, Shanghai Noon, Three Amigos... THOSE are just a few of the real comedies. I hate these stupidly crude wannabes out there now. Hell, Brooks was crass and rude, hell DeLuise in History of the world was beyond offensive even nowadays, but the movies now just leave me with this empty, vacant and heartless feeling. There's no soul to them.

In fact, I'm totally going to watch Three Amigos with my girls tonight, and City Slickers by myself :)

    I love Three Amigos!

"We can go outside and you can kiss me on the veranda..."

"...on the lips would be fine."

Very very few movies have actually made me laugh out loud. Like, hardly any. Doesn't make it not funny though. I laugh on the inside.

Loosten up with comedies and hold the heavy ass criticism until its finished and maybe you'll enjoy them more. They're not made to be good, they're made to be funny.

Haha. Yes! That line went over my head as a kid, hell maybe even as an adult it did ;).

It was a miss with my kids, so I'll be watching it on my own another time. Maybe city slickers.

Uh, I don't need to uproariously laugh to enjoy a comedy. It just needs to not suck. For me, those that I mention sucked. I don't find them funny, not even inside snicker funny.

I am more than able to loosen up. Hudson Hawk is one of my favorite movies, I love Night at the Roxbury, Ace Ventura, Bio Dome, Tommy boy, Encino man, So I married an Axe murderer, Happy Gilmore... I could go on and on.

I did not and won't ever enjoy the humor of Superbad and its ilk. There are some exceptions of course, I LOVE Tropic Thunder.

But comedies, more than any other genre, are the hardest to fit. Comedy is far more subjective than action and drama.

I can't force you into liking certain things, and I'll not enjoy those comedies. Ever. The older I get, the less I like them.

Tropic Thunder is my favorite comedy. Love it.

    BIG ASS TITTIES!

That's kind of what I said..

    Okay then.

    Okay then.

Yeah they're subjective. What're your top 5 comedies?

It was a good shark movie, pretty funny too.

I know that's what you said; I was trying to explain that I do not believe I need to laugh uproariously to enjoy it as a comedy.

As for my top comedies, that's really hard. I can tell you some of my top comedies, but I can't confine them to a "top 5" so this is a list of 5 of my favorites, I also couldn't give you my top 5 favorite movies, there are too many :)

    Comedies:

    Dr. Strangelove
    Princess Bride
    Snatch
    Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

But that's missing so many other comedies that are perfection. Top secret, Hot Shots, Naked Gun... Sigh. I could go on and on.

It's funny, I haven't seen Tropic Thunder since after watching Eastbound and Down, I need to watch that again. Shame he couldn't do enough to pull Your Highness out of suckassdom. The only good thing that movie had going for it was the butt shot of Portman, which is the only asset I find appealing on her anyhow.

I think one of the few comedies I laughed out loud with is Anchorman. Freakin' love that movie.

    Tropic Thunder is epic, too.

I do love Dr Strangelove, but it's not laugh out loud funny for me. Snatch is awesome too. Kinda bored of Simon Pegg now, I always felt Shaun of the Dead was a little overrated, it deserves praise for doing something so different, but the humour wasn't exactly outstanding.

Absolutely hated Tropic Thunder. Stupid jokes for the lowest common denominator, and I got bored halfway through.
