Off the watch list now. Thanks for letting me know. Good. Another person who has watched Django. Now if only ninjackid would watch it also. Dammit.
So watched 3 films these past 3 days. 1. There Will Be Blood Did not like it at all. Long. Boring. No girls. I can understand that those movie buffs who critique the acting/dialogue etc may have rated it highly, but I just did not find this movie entertaining at all. 2. 12 Monkeys. Strange film. Interesting. And more importantly, a very hot lead actress. Oh my. The only problem with a hot girl in an old film is that they've aged. But damn, Madeline was hot. 3. Lost in Translation. Rewatched it for like the 10th time. The ending gets me every time :'( Johansson is so fuggin hot. It's ridiculous. Dammit.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, back it up there partner. Did you just say Step Brothers ISN'T FUNNY? Wtf is wrong with you?! Kenny, you put Step Brothers back on that damn list right now! It's one of my favorite comedies, Hoggy just doesn't know what he's talking about. All that MLP must've rotted his brain or something. And this? What is this? I don't even know. "No girls"?? That's gotta be one of the worst excuses I've ever heard to not like a movie. Are seeing hot girls all you look for in a movie, Kenny? If so, you're watching the wrong thing, there's something else for that. Damn.
Probably 'cause he's an Aussie. ...and they're reasonably smart *ejects* Haven't seen Step Brothers btw.
I don't know, I just didn't really connect with it. It seemed like a lot of the same humour in these kind of movies. I might give it another shot on another day. MLP definetly has no influence on my movie taste
Step brothers is awesome, but definitely not in my top 10 comedies. There are funnier, and better comedies. That being said, I loved the movie, and it should definitely stay on your watch lists.
12 Monkeys is so good it makes my head spin. Pitt MAKES that film what it is. It's epic due to large part by his spot on acting in the role. That and fight club are 2 of his best performances. Not liking TWBB is far from surprising. It takes intelligence to enjoy it Seriously, though, it's got a much slower pace than movies you're used to. Plus it's a subject that isn't accessible for everyone. There's a load of books that have covered similar subjects and if you can get into it, it's ANYTHING but boring. For me, not a second of the film dragged. I wasn't bored, ever. Not for a moment. The music, the acting, the story. Everything. So much glee I have in watching that film. Step Brothers tried SO hard to be funny, and I completely agree with Hoggy, there is a style of humor in these minds of movies, Ferrell-like. Some of them are brilliant (Anchorman, Blades of Glory) and then there are the Step Brothers, Semi-Pro and such that are just fleh. There are other comedies around that time which were just very similar with their humor, somewhat surreal and wacky. It works sometimes, but when it doesn't then my god does it really not work. Keep Step Brothers on the list, just put it right at the bottom, right after corky Romano Oh you aren't missing ANYTHING. I'm there with you totally. Hell, I'll take Pinkie Pie over Step Bothers any day!! I've watched... Fight Club, which I may have mentioned already. Schindler's List - which I haven't seen in EONS and after seeing again I'm reminded how superficial it is. Hell, I remember seeing that when I was in high school! Can you imagine schools taking kids to see a film like that today?!? We went to see Malcolm X, too. While the 90s weren't great for films, and while Schindler's List wasn't truly horrifying enough to be a REAL film about Shoah, they were still monumental films of great impotence. The Conversation - got this for very cheap and gave it a whirl, not disappointed. Kenny, you'd be bored I'm sure. I loved it. It got real creepy near the end, and the time went by like a flash. Very interesting 70s spy film. If you liked The Lives of Others, this is a no brainer. And it's by Coppola, he OWNED THE 70s! Godfather 1 and 2, Apocalypse Now and this. How many directors can put out 4 critically acclaimed films in a lifetime let alone in under 10 years??
I used to really dislike Will Ferrell because he always looks as though he's trying so hard to be funny instead of just being funny. Still does, but I'm better at ignoring it. I find he's at his best in text, but performing, not quite so much.
Because they're not? Superbad especially just frustrated me. I like Cera a lot, but I felt it was just a stupid pile of stupid jokes aiming to be crude for the sake of being crude, and using its massive crude nature to try and be funny. It tried to use shock to make people laugh. Some people enjoy that. Hell, I do sometimes. I like family guy, but I didn't like a lot of movies in that generation. At all. Meh. I'm REALLY particular. I do and don't like him at the same time. I don't know how to explain it. My mother in law used to comment about Travolta, saying that there was something just "missing" when she saw him, I feel the same about Ferrell. I can't even fathom what he is like as a person. I've never seen the real him, he's a character and I can't imagine that HE actually exists, if that makes sense. And he just strikes me as some sort of vacant person. So I think I feel ya. I'm watching For All Mankind, a documentary on the trip to the moon, and the "first steps" there. It's very captivating, and it's amazing how good of quality the video is that they took back then. Some 60 years ago and WOW. Just wow, when on handheld cameras. Better than expensive digital versions now. Oh! I watched enter the Dragon!! I bought it in HDDVD years and years ago, man I am glad I did! It was one hell of a movie, I had never seen Bruce Lee in a film prior to this, wow. Just wow. If you like kung fu, MOTHER FLIBNERDYKIDIE! Watch it.
Oh I've seen Enter the Dragon alright, great movie. It's been a long time though. I think I've seen a few other Bruce Lee movies too but they kinda merge into one another in my mind.
I see your point with Superbad, but to say it wasn't funny is stupid. Pineapple express is just awesome. It's been a favorite comedy of mine for years. *thug life*. I wouldn't say they're in my top 10 comedies, just that they're better than you say.
