Part of what I liked about District 9 was that it almost intentionally refused to let the audience connect with the main character. He was never a particularly nice guy, he was a stupid guy making scumbag decisions in a scumbag job. Just goes to show, bad things happen to scumbags too. It's kinda playing with your head a little bit. According to the law he was a fine and upstanding citizen doing a very tough job, so shouldn't be be looked after and cared for like one? There are obviously a lot of parallels with real life immigration issues and people working in jobs that they may not necessarily agree with, so I found it a bit interesting for those sorts of reasons. Not a fantastic movie, but I liked it for breaking out of the expected mold.

    Look out your window.
I'm gonna watch district 9 now.

I watched some of it actually on TV, and then forgot about it.

The trailer for Catching Fire looks great so far. Surprisingly, I've never read any of the books. Looks like there's a lot more plot behind this one instead of just kids killing each other.

42 and Oblivion both look like movies I'll want to see.

Go read the books. They put HP and Twilight to shame and are much better than the movie.

Never read the books either, but I didn't like the first film.

Strangely I connected to him more when he started to "turn". He kinda had to leave his humanity to find his empathy. To break the system he had to be removed from it and the dominant culture. It looks like he is in Elysium as well. The dude with the sword :D

"life of pi" and "beasts of the southern wild"

we liked it... could see and waiting for a sequel of help + revenge!
odd sister didn't like it and thought it was like watching a news report. she's an odd one :p

just seen "life of pi" and "beasts of the southern wild" .. actually like Beasts better the Pi for the overall story/acting and smooth progression of the movie. dont know why Pi was up for best picture, would tell anyone to wait for $1 rental or when its on cabletv. Beasts movie is based on real people down south that live on uncharted swamp land by the levee. nice to see they casted some of the actors by local non-actor walkins in the small town.

Dude, I completely agree. I'm looking forward to this movie, and I'm not even a Superman fan!

The trailer does look pretty good, but I'm sure we could compile a never-ending list of bad movies with great trailers. I find it difficult not to completely hate Superman, but I might give this one a chance.

This is how I felt about Superman until I saw this trailer. I'm giving it a chance.

  15. Watching Step Brothers right now, it really isn't that funny actually
