They've been used to the service so much that it's hard to understand people from other people's countries confusion It might be reachable using an US VPN
The dude is a slimeball. "Technically" doesn't really cut it, he was offering strong incentives for users to create the largest collection of pirated material on the internet. You can be found guilty of encouraging crime even if you don't commit it yourself, à la Charles Manson. Even if that doesn't bother you, how about the part where millions of people lost hundreds of millions of personal files? It could happen again, and he wants you to pay him money for the chance to find out.
I have no idea what you guys are talking about again. Who is Kim Dotcom? Is that a website or a name?
The dude who owned Megaupload and thinks it's cool to have car licence plates saying things like "MAFIA" and "STONED". STYLISH SON OF A... < That's a link by the way.
He made a file sharing website, that's about it. What you described is The Pirate Bay. He didn't do anything outright illegal. The people that lost their files? Courtesy of the US government that pressured the NZ government by being the "big boys". Lots of people should be fired for that and hopefully the ongoing investigation will see to that. Megaupload.
Yeah, but look at his face. He's a douche. Even torrent site owners and free internet advocates hate him because he only cares about the money. He lives in a huge mansion that he bought with the cash he earned by blatantly telling people to steal. I stick up for torrent sites and the like, but every avenue of business has its assholes, and he's a giant one.
He has a "strong" personality, yes, but he didn't do half the things people think he did. You heard about the raid on his home, right?
Heading to the movies in a bit. It's been a while, since nothing good has really came out since Winter break. Seeing two of the following (not sure which yet): Spring Breakers, Jurassic Park 3D, The Croods, Oz, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Probably going to end up seeing SB and The Croods. Somehow, the completely absurd premise of SB really makes me want to see it, lol.
Saw GI Joe 2 and Red Dawn last night. GI Joe was decent, pretty much just an action popcorn flick, but that's what I expected. Red Dawn was pretty below average, IMO. Characters shallow as hell, plot far-fetched. Pretty much just an empty shell of a movie, a vehicle for a senseless action-packed flick.
Absurd premise? You mean the load (har) of soft core pron going on in the movie? That's all it is. Don't pull a pee wee... Or yeah, let's just leave it there The Croods is supposed to be about on par to standard mid range Dreamworks stuff. Not bad but forgettable. But looking at what's out... There's next to nothing. God, there's a real drought in the theaters. You could try and see Ginger & Rosa or No... I'm sure those are exciting theater films, too! =\ I wish there was there was something good, even cheesy good, like Con Air, Lethal Weapon or similar out these days. Everything is either too serious or TOO cheesy for its own good. I know you're young and saying "go rent something" isn't a valid option but... Go rent something .
Just gonna quietly remove Spring Breakers from my IMDb watch list... The Rock! I don't mean it's new, I just always watch Con Air in a double feature with The Rock.
Your pedestal ranking just went up I actually haven't seen it, I can't get out to the theaters, but I've heard many, many, many good things about it from people who have very similar tastes to me. It is strange though, critics really enjoy it and holy crap the audience hates it. Personally, I adore Elle fanning and she could take a crap film and make it decent. She made Super8 and she made Totoro that much better. It is really strange to see that much of a difference in critics and the audience. Sure, sometimes things are a bit overrated from critics, but not usually this big of a difference. If I could get out to see it, I think I would.
