Saw Date Night because Steve Carell is in it. It was pretty good, mostly because of Carell. Not much to the plot, though. But enjoyable.
It's a very sad day. I remember watching At the Movies right from the get go, even when I was younger. Heck, that was how you saw trailers for things, the only way. When I was a kid, you had to watch TV to see trailers, there was no Internet!!! Anyway, it's a sad day. It's strange that this comes what, a week after he announced his retirement? Happened with Huel Hauser and Andy Rooney, too. They all died within a month or two after their retirement. Weird. On a movie note, saw The Lives of Others. Really good movie, glad I just went for a blind buy. I think watching it with the commentary will be worth the price of admission alone. Incredibly sad to see Ulrich Mühe died like, immediately after the movie came out. And then the drama with his former wives and current wife who died just last year to "undisclosed causes" (read: suicide =\) Battle Of Algiers is brilliant and a must watch for anyone, if I didn't already say that. The Producers was okay. I love Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder, but I think it was a little too schlocky to give a Mel Brooks rating to. Bad? No. Great? No. Le Harve was a nice, simple and happy 96 minute flick. It's not going to leave a person thinking and it's not going to hang on for days, but it's a worthwhile watch without any question. It's the kind of thing you save for a day when you just want something "nice". My next watches will be more Shoah, Le Samuroai by Melville, La Haine, Sunset Boulevard, Tin Drum, Rififi and Room 237. Shoah is going to take a long time, I can't watch too much at a time, I can only be so emotionally overwhelmed.
Rush Hour is one of my fav buddy comedies. It's simple, silly and nice. I love Tucker. If you like him, you HAVE to watch Friday. HAVE TO. Seriously. Lawrence is confusingly hot IMO. My biggest issue are her cheekbones. Maybe she's lost weight, or it's just her hair being up, but man do her cheekbones look way too puffy a lot, and it's a strange turn off. She's had a bit of weird plastic surgery too. God I wish girls would just leave well enough alone. I've never seen an actress and said "MAN, she looks GOOD with that plastic surgery!" Ugh. If you've got something a little off, deal with it. I know it can mean the difference in having a job or not, but damn it's never EVER good in the long run. Ever. Heck, look at Marty Feldman, he just ran with it! (In case you don't recognize him, he's Igor from young Frankenstein, pronounced EYE-gore )
It's never just one thing. I have high suspiscion it's on/in her checks, too. They fluctuate too much, and no it's not just makeup. She's pretty, has a great body, but she's messing around too much, she needs to put a stop to it all
Well, that sucks. I agree with andsoitgoes, girls should just leave well enough alone, and stop altering their facial features.
Nice to see we both agree on a movie for once! Added to watch list! Have you seen the second and third ones? I've only seen the first which was friggin hilarious! I agree, her cheeks do look a bit puffy, but I didn't think that was cos of surgery or anything. Wasn't there an issue when she was cast in the Hunger Games where people were saying she didn't look "thin" enough? Anyway, I would much prefer fuller looking ladies e.g. JL, SJ etc, than those abhorrently skinny ones e.g. Hathaway
Saw Reservoir Dogs last night, along with both Kill Bill's a couple days ago. I'm gonna watch all of Tarantino's films now. Next is probably Inglorious Basterds, and then Jackie Brown. Thinking of skipping Death Proof since most seem to agree it's Quentin's worst film. Anyone seen it?
It's my friend's favorite, and my least next to Jackie Brown. It's a decent film, but a bit slow for the first little bit. But for all the criticisms, I've seen it once or twice and I can picture it like it was yesterday. As well, there are some pretty ladies and an interesting twist. I love Basterds for Waltz. If he weren't in the film, it would have been mediocre. It's like you could almost tell his editor who died (again, of questionable causes) shortly after didn't have her heart into it. It wasn't nearly as tight as kill bill, or as focused.
The pretty ladies - was that for Death Proof or Jackie Brown? Waltz is in Basterds as well? Fantastic, he was awesome in Django!
