Far as I can remember it followed the movie word for word. That was years ago though. Fug it, fug you, and fug hummus.
Over Monday and Tuesday I watched... *checks IMDb ratings* Wreck-It Ralph, The Giant Mechanical Man, ParaNorman, The Amazing Spider-Man, Life of Pi, Dark Shadows, Fantastic Mr Fox and Anchorman. Mostly catching up on more recent stuff because I hate cinemas and love Blu-ray.
If we weren't overdoing the gifs in this thread I would pull out a few facepalm gifs, plus I am also concerned that you may be somewhat sarcastic... But anyway, LOTR took the book, stripped it down, and left out some of the most interesting details out from the film. Now while I didn't like the source materials, I still liked them FAR more than the movie. The whole "my axe!" Scene was dumbed down to, well, "my axe! My bow! My sword!" So, instead of taking LOTR and spanning it into multiple movies or, what would have been far smarter now, made into a TV series, they cut it up strangely. The Hobbit - 1, MAYBE 2 movies. LOTR - HBO Series, or multiple movies per. But simply, GOT > LOTR I get that LOTR had songs, a whole language, appendices and so on... But meh.
Although having said that, I did read all the Harry Potter books so. But when it got to the movies, I had completely forgotten what I read also :/
