Curiously ninjackid, did you watch Drive because it had been on your watchlist for ages? Or because I saw it, and then you wanted to as well?
Changed my mind. Fistful of Dollars, Leone's copy of Kurosawa's Yojimbo. And fistful was a clear influence in Kill Bill/Django as well as the only Rockstar game I really love, Red Dead Redemption.
You too! I've decided to use this pic to put in my list. There are heaps to choose from, so if you'd like something else please let me know
Man, while I like the ideas that went into Fistful of Dollars, I don't think there's any way I can appreciate the film due to my love of Yojimbo. The remaining movies in the trilogy are completely different, thankfully, but the first is such a blatant copy it drives me crazy. As I watch it, I can't help but think "man, I'd so rather be watching Yojimbo." Interestingly, Eastwood commented in an interview that he wanted to do this film because of the fact it was technically Yojimbo, and seeing as it launched him into stardom, how can I complain about that?
Ugh, attempted to watch Killing Them Softly last night. But quit after an hour or so, had no idea what the fug was going on, couldn't understand a word they were saying, and I was so fuggin tired...
I just saw OZ Jack and the Beanstalk Die Hard 6? Oz was too kiddish for me, it was just ok. Jack was pretty good. Die Hard was much better than I thought, it wasn't in the deluxe theater, so that was a bummer, but I didn't hear anything about this movie. Strange. It was actually pretty good. Out of all these three movies, probably would like die hard the best.
Watching drive tonight. I enjoyed it. A lot actually. Probably because I had no idea what was going on.
