I watched TDK about six times within six months just because I loved the performances. Still haven't bothered to see TDKR even once. LiT I can watch several times because there are so many subtle nuances and interpretations that amount to the movie looking simple at first glance, but ultimately saying far, far more about human emotions and relationships than 99% of Hollywood love stories. I even enjoy reading essays on it to get other peoples' point of view. Other movies I can watch endlessly are The Fearless Vampire Killers and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, which is my all-time number one. Both of those have a dream-like quality to their cinematography that really let you sink into them and let your mind wander while you watch. The BTTF series I can watch a lot simply because they're fun. Not so much LOTR though, it's too point blank. What you see is what you get, and if a movie is going to be stretched out over so much time it really needs to have something to think about. If there isn't then you're pretty much just staring at snow and rock for ages. I've pretty much just covered my top movies (I've got most of what I've seen rated 1-10 on IMDb) so I might as well just mention that my other 10* movies are Aliens, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Terminator 2 and Cannibal! The Musical, AKA Alferd Packer: The Musical. That's me done.
Partly because Bane doesn't excite me at all as a character, but also because I never go to the cinema, much prefer watching movies at home on Blu-ray and I haven't exactly been rolling in money recently.
I think I got through 1 1/2 of those movies before I got tired. I'm not sure if I didn't enjoy them or if I was actually tired. I much prefer Scarface and Dog Day Afternoon for my classic Pacino moments though.
Bane is great. Character and performance. Story, ending, it's a kick ass movie. Your not having seen it is disgraceful. Fix it.
Tom Hardy plays Bane extremelly well. He easily fits into the charachter and excels through it. I was actually expecting a more gruffer voice when it came to Bane due to his mask, but still, he's played amazingly
Ah, yeah. Well, Hardy did very well as Bane. Put as much character as he could into a shallow character like Bane. But, Bane is still a very shallow villain, especially in comparison to Ledger's Joker. However, it's still a very well-done film, and an epic conclusion to the trilogy. I highly recommend you see it. It's at Redbox for like 1.29 a night.
Yeah, I dunno why I never saw it. I'll add it to my ever growing watchlist. Are the sequels/prequels worth watching?
Me too, the only reason I haven't watched it cos I think it's in black and white. And I tend to avoid them...
This may have gotten lost in the plethora of posts, but I'm re-recommending Up In The Air. Fantastic movie, great performances by Clooney, Vera and Kendrick Anyway, I saw Shutter Island last night. Started off well enough, but then everything turned to the shit half way through. k1lljoy, I think you will enjoy this movie, my brain hurt a lot after It's got Ruffalo and Di Caprio in it and directed by Scorsese. iMDB review:
Yeah Shutter Island has been on my watch list for awhile, forgot all about though. Might just watch it tonight. Also, black and white is never a good enough reason not to watch something.
I like how I recommend you something, and then you're the next one to post Yeh I know, I just can't help it though, being used to colour and all.
