For those who have seen The Hobbit, is it better to see it in IMAX 3D or High Frame Rate RealD 3D?

Overall great film? It's one of the best ever made.

I have a bunch of movies and no idea what to watch. Which one?

-Shawshank Redemption (heard it was really good)
-Sherlock Holmes (been reading the short stories, really enjoying them)
-Hotel Rwanda (also supposed to be good
-Letters From Iuwa Jima (I didn't spell that right)

    Help me choose!!!

Btw about the Hobbit in 3D...do you need glasses for the 3D? I've actually never seen a movie in 3D in about 5 years, dunno if its changed or not.

Sherlock Holmes, as in the Robert Downey Jr. version? Watch it, if so.

    Yeah, you still need glasses.

The Hobbit was a lot of fun. Look forward to the next entry immensely.

Is it just me, or is there no noticeable difference between 24 and 48 fps for movies? I saw it in 2D btw.

The Hobbit Part 1 was really good. I think the critics had too much high expectations after the LOTR trilogy (65% Rotten Tomatoes?!) -- because this movie felt to be on par with my expectations, and presumably everyone else's. Only gripe is the length of the film and movie being about 1/3 of the book's 300 or so pages.. Part one and two should be it but oh well.

Star Trek preview was pretty awesome too.

In anticipation for the Hobbit, I got the LotR trilogy. Didn't realise how long the movies were, it's crazy!

Yeah. The extended editions are really long. Adds about 10, 20 and 50 mins respectively to each film. Total viewtime for all 3 extended editions surpasses 10 hours!

Btw, I watched the Hobbit yesterday. If you watch it, you realize how great a movie LotR was. The Hobbit movie also suffers from the novel, which has a vastly differing narrative and plotline compared to LotR. And of course PJ decided to expand of the story to include other happenings at that time.

THe Hobbit Part 1 is a good 4/5 movie, but it has a loose story. LotR was tight in respect. Also, I think a proper rating can only be given for all 3 movies combined. They can't stand on their own.

Nope, I'm not a fan of 3D. The only movie I've seen in 3D is TRON: Legacy, which was awesome. Otherwise, for movies shot in the "real world", I think 3D sucks.

I did watch it in Digital 2D though.

To be honest I didn't feel anything different in that sense. It may just have been that I watched in 24 fps. Is that even possible?

Yeah, I watched it in 2D and didn't see any difference. I think 2D might be 24 FPS.

That sucks, doesn't it? The only reason I paid a little extra to watch in 2D (as opposed to 35mm) was because to my understanding it would have the 48fps format. It still may have had, but based on what the reviewers say (the vast differences etc), I don't think I watched it in 48 fps. Surely I'd have been able to tell other.

On a separate note, does 2D have a reel projector or is it played without a reel/projector from behind?

The plot was the dumbest thing since Temple of Doom...

Other than that and a few jiggly points from a fan of Doyle's short stories, fun movie.

Yep, was looking forward to seeing if this new framerate really was as annoying/different as the critics said.

I don't know if there was a reel projector. It was just a normal theater, nothing special.
