First off I'm brand spankin' new to Touch Arcade, so... Hello Everyone! Anyways... I was wondering what you all thought were the control systems that were really succeeding on the iPhone. I obviously know that the controls are completely dependent on the type of game that is created, but some seem to work better than others in most cases. I personally haven't quite been sold on using the accelerometer as a means of control (unless it's used in a super intuitive way like it was in Wooden Labyrinth) The on screen d-pad I thought would work terribly, but to be honest it's one of my favorite means of control. I dunno, whadaya think?:
depends on the game but i don't really like accelerometer either. I don't like having to move all around when I play. Sometimes it's nice to just sit there.
depends completely on what type of game we're talking about. accelerometer control for space ninja is perfect.
You all seniors failed at something.... 1st things 1st! Welcome to TA I love tilt controls only on Scoops as of yet. I love the controls on Archibald, Worms(apart from da backflip intermittently ), CJS (needs a bit of getting used to it) Unable to recollect any other games, the ones I listed have left a long lasting impression on me. Its more like the feeling when one has learnt riding a bike, one does not ever worry about how to balance the 2wheelr anymore
Side scrollers are a bit tricky I think on the iPhone still. I'm probably gonna get some flak for this but I thought the controls for Mega Man II were really good (although I couldn't shoot nearly as fast as I could with a regular controller) Oh and thanks for the welcome ultimo!
