We've all seen lots of threads about the best game of 2010 (Console and iphone) But what about the most disappointing? Personally I would go for FFXIII, because square focused too much on graphics and story meaning they completely forgot about gameplay, so they just stuck a big corridor to walk down and fight enemies. What does everyone else think?
Other than the major linearity of the game, I thought it (FFXIII) was really good. Graphics, Music, Combat System, Crystarium System everything. Sure it was a competely different take on what they normally do, but I had my fun with it. Most disappointing game for me though? Bioshock 2 or Medal of Honor.
Yeah I thought FFXIII was great. The core gameplay of the previous games was always the battles anyway, they just focused in on the important bits and left out the mindless wandering. Not that I don't enjoy a bit of mindless wandering from time to time, but it does slow the pace down considerably and FFXIII was all about action. The storyline warrants a hectic and faced paced game because the characters themselves are in a hurry. I'm not sure what my biggest disappointment is. Blur was quite dull and inevitably led to the whole studio shutting down so that really comes to mind. Bioshock 2 wasn't anything special, but I didn't expect it to be so no loss there. New Vegas was a little disappointing; Fallout 3 was so amazing I expected to be wowed by NV even if the gameplay remained identical, but somehow I just couldn't get into it. Castlevania wasn't as good as I hoped it would be either. No massive disappointments for me, I expected most of the not-so-good games to be not-so-good anyway.
I guess I would have to agree slightly with the NV comment. Not that is was disappointing, but it was not nearly as fun as FO3. I think it was the world that got me, it just didn't feel so dark, dreary and uninhabitable that made FO3's atmosphere so awesome.
It was a decent action fighter game with a good story and battle system, but it wasnt Final Fantasy IMO, if square had made a new franchise and tipped it as a linear fighter then it would have been great but as a long time FF fan i was massively disappointed. I'm also gonna add Alpha Protocol, one of the rare games which Bioware have screwed up. It was just boring
I can see where you are coming from brah, and I too am a long time FF fan. Did you see some of the Square titles for the 360 though? Those games were pretty god damn terrible... The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery (WTF Does that even mean anyways?)
Metroid Other M was mine. It wasn't a bad game at all, it's just that Metroid Prime was released in 2002 and was still better in pretty much every way (Including graphics >.>). And there's also the storyline.. This article explains it all pretty well: http://moonbase.rydia.net/mental/blog/gaming/metroid-other-m-the-elephant/article.html Edit: Now that I think back, the one thing that really bugged me from the start was the soundtrack. I was very disappointed that it was just 'Generic Hardcore HD Game' ambient music the whole way through, especially (again) after how great Metroid Prime's music was.
It wasn't necessarily that I thought it was a bad game, just a bad sequel. It seemed like there wasn't enough to make it worthwhile.
I laughed out loud when I read "Boring Gameplsy" then saw his name was iPhondTouch3G. I dunno if that's some kind of disability or just his signature move, but it's funny all the same.
Really? The biggest dissapointment? It did get hyped a little, but it's still a very solid action platformer with a great art style and an okay story....
Really not a fan of Black Ops.... Sonic 4 sucked But i really want Dragon Age 2 to release....its looks amazing!!!
Typing on my iPod messes me up Also to the other guy I'm a PC Gamer. I love graphics. Shiny games = better . also it did have bad graphics. nie particle effects bu overall mw2 looked better. mw2 had decent graphics. black ops ran like crap (especially on ps3) and the multiplayer wasn't fun.
Cod Black Ops pwns every other shooter game this year. The graphics added to the cool, gritty tone, tghe multiplayer was more balanced and refined than MW2, and the story was freakin awesome! give it the respect it deserves!
