Its not just tap tap tap. You need to block, use specials at the right time, use different taps as there is a tap and a swipe. Also there is collecting different characters, upgrading there specials, finding gear for them, also getting there health, attack, and stamina cards. So there is a lot to do just need a bit of patience to build a good roster to keep the energy stuff in check.
I don't know. I'm at the 4th stage and I've been cruising by with Scorpion, I have two random people but I never use them. I've upgraded the first and second special, I've acquired a ring, but it's still tap tap tap swipe tap tap tap to me.
Anyone able to do fatalities yet? I'm guessing you have to get cards for them or get them at a certain level.
The game's totally misleading in that way. Even Injustice and Immortals are like that. Even with a couple of leveled up gold characters, you will get your ass handed to you time and time again in due time. Yes, it may be swipes and taps, but unless you learn when to block and use your specials, you're going to go absolutely nowhere later on.
I think Nether Realm really needs to completely revamp the formula to compete with Marvel: Contest of Champions which pretty much killed Injustice / WWE Immortals on top grossing charts. The Marvel IP is much much stronger (Mortal Kombat is irrelevant in comparison unless you grew up with the original arcade games), NR needs much better game play to stand a chance. My biggest problem with Injustice (and Contest of Champions for that matter) was the characters were way too generic and I just didn't feel like I had enough control of the characters. I beat Injustice with nothing more than block attack block attack and use super whenever it is up. I think NR needs to be bold and try an alternative console style fighter with virtual controls SF: Volt style, or add some more variety to the tap controls. Injustice mobile was revolutionary and wildly successful but three games in a row with different skins and weaker IP? I would love to see SNK or Capcom release one of their fighters with 2015 graphics and freemium formula. It is probably a niche game that won't be wildly successful, but Capcom vs SNK 3 freemium with real time multi-player would be my dream come true and make more than enough money to justify the development cost.
So I'm guessing the "cannot connect to server...would you like to play offline" messages are a server side issue? I was able to play last night logged in just fine.
No I don't think so......no more of these games for me. I already played Injustice incessantly and I tried Immortals quite a bit. Neither of those games are on my device now. I personally just ran out of steam with these games. It looks really detailed and everything but no I'm not going there again. Plus yesterday's game downloads pushed my device to less than a gigabyte of space which I swore I'd never do again! My other reason for posting is purely to reach my 3000th post. Now I can hang it up......but I've said that before
Same here, game is stuck on loading screen while trying to play offline! I hope there's a fix for this soon!
As far as I can tell you have to have a gold character and it has to be a "boss" then it automatically triggers the fatality then you do some qte swipes to make sure it goes through. Also X-rays are locked to gold characters. And there are people who have almost maxed out gold characters. I saw a quan chi gold Lvl 32 on my ally pick list.
Very mixed on this so far. Graphics are better than Injustice or Immortals and I like the generic special upgrade cards for abilities rather than the character specific ones of the other games. Combat is worse. There is less strategy and timing. Also, the QTE's are imprecise. I'm hitting the swipe but not seeing the percentage go up. It's very frustrating and plays more like Ultimate Robot Fighting (a horrible game) in this regard. They also hint at unblockable throws in some of the loading screens but have not seen anything about throws yet. I think the monetization scheme is disappointing. $10 won't even get enough for a Gold Card, which is dumb. The souls are handed out like they cure cancer, which was a complaint I had about Contest of Champions and many other games. Injustice and Immortals made money despite being player friendly, this feels like a huge step backwards. Not sure how people are saying this is nothing like Injustice when it is JUST like it except shallower combat, better graphics, and more traditional (ie: punishing IAP). Not sure how it is all going to play out. Will wait and see what happens when they fire up Faction Wars and the first challenge. I think that will be more telling. Hoping they don't go the Contest of Champions route. I walked away from that game because it was too much grinding with too little reward.
Very disappointed with the dumbed down fighting and the extra soul currency for gold cards. They've effectively killed the two things I loved about these games. The fighting, at least they could have left it like Injustice and also the currency so we could buy a couple of gold cards to start off and grind for the others. But now you can buy gold cards but it'll take ages to grind for another one unless you pay or wait for a challenge. So far I'm not impressed but an update or two could change things. Let's hope that there's a way to earn gold faster than grinding for days. I don't mind buying a couple of gold. I did that with Injustice but then I earned the rest. With this so far I can't see any chance to earn gold in a reasonable time frame. 2 stars pending improvements.
Hi all, Just wanted to share that I too am unable to connect to my online profile. I'm able to play offline, but the load times are much much longer, perhaps a minute or more. Eventually it works, and I just went into a "Test Your Might" event that loaded instantly, but the fights take much longer to load and I don't believe I have access to assists (makes sense). What happens is you'll see the dragon logo saying loading for a minute or more, and then eventually it switches to a splash screen with some tip, where shortly after you're moved to your fight. Like everyone else here, I'm sure they're in the process of fixing everything - just wanted to chime in. You can play, you just need to be willing to wait. EDIT: Running on an iPhone 5S
