It's coming for all PSN owners this Tuesday but Playstation Plus owners have it now. Xbox 360 get it soon. This looks crazy, already people are coming up with some mean combos (that hopefully won't be nerfed too bad by the full release next month. Me too. Calling it right now, this will be one of the most successful modern games that are not named "Call of Duty" or "Wii [Insert Subtitle here]" games. A critical and commercial hit. MK will kick major ass.
Not to be mean, but I don't think so. I'm not a fighting game vet by any stretch of the imagination, but I've been through enough 'Mortal Kombat reboots' than I care to remember to know this is gonna suck. Mortal Kombat has 'returned to it's roots' more times than an OCD Gardener.
sorry but it won't. sure the game will be fun but fighting games are not mainstream and never will be.
Here's a good playthrough of arcade mode. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Fighting games were mainstream back in the 90's, and Street Fighter 4 did good in making its way back into mainstream audiences. I suspect this MK will do the same.
It's not got anywhere near the appeal of an FPS and a smaller fan following than Street Fighter. SFIV was a big comeback, critically and commercially successful, but it still wasn't massive. Nowhere near the scale of mainstream games like CoD. It'll probably be good fun for the fans though. It might possibly retain all of the problems the series has never managed to shake off... but going back to the roots is a fine start. It makes me wish I was better at these games.
Hahaha, you are in for a surprise then. The MK franchise has always been a hit in terms of sales. To say that MK vs DC, a Teen Rated game which was decent, sold over 2.5 million copies.
Fair enough, but MK can do excellent numbers without the "help" of other big names. Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon-- all big hits.
Demo's out now. Game's awesome, though pulling off combos is harder than you think, even basic Deep Jump Kick>Special Move is tricky to pull off. Best control setup is to put R1 as block and L1 as stance switch, so you can press L1 and R1 together for a quick X-ray. Don't worry about throw, you can press Square and X together to throw just like Street Fighter 4 by default.
Dude, Omega-F you have such a hard on for such an average game. Sure the MK games are good and I am looking forward to this one, but you are really building yourself up for failure. I know you won't admit it, thats probably just the kind of person that you are, but you will be let down by this game. MK has always been a decent fighting series, nothing special. MKvDC sold 2.5 million copies while SF4 did that in under 3 months. Super Street Fighter 4 also sold 1.6 million copies and those are pretty much the same game. MvC 3 sold 800 thousand in its first 2 weeks, so it probably hit a million by week 3. Talk numbers all you want, but Capcom games have the upper hand. They also have higher critic and user ratings. Check any site. MK will be a decent game, nothing more. Can I use "Me too. Calling it right now, this will be one of the most successful modern games that are not named "Call of Duty" or "Wii [Insert Subtitle here]" games. A critical and commercial hit." as a sig when the game comes out and doesn't sell well or get high ratings?
Your attitude is embarrassing man. What's your point? If I want to be hyped for this game, it's my own problem. You don't need to come up with bullshit arguments like "you are settling yourself for disappointment" or crap like that, because guess what, you are the only one who gives a damn, not me. What, will you commit suicide if the game gets 90+ reviews? I don't get what's your problem.
Yay, flame war! Honestly I'm buying this for nostalgia. I have my genesis still set up, but I want to relive old MK memories. This is finally a game I can play with my dad (who doesn't play video games mug anymore) because we played MK 1 and 2 back in the day.

1. I disagree. I absolutely loved the demo - and the fatalities! Oh the fatalities! 2. This is what that made me think of:
