Absolutely Agree and share your concern I completely agree, no harsh offense here to Josh, but it is what it is. Also, this is not the only game dev to do this. It is becoming a vulgar trend to almost in a sense use the first and more forgiving mobile gaming fan base, especially one with which a dev has already built a good relationship, even produced many mobile only games etc etc...to test the major console/PC and steam platforms water so to speak. Then, as soon as there is any sign of possible success in those markets...pft...mobile gets put on the back burner. Another game in which this has recently occurred is such an amazing little game called Ticket to Earth. They initially only released the first of 5-6 episodes total and supposedly have been working diligently on the next episodes promised (free for those who already own the game), but....kinda...not really no...they instead went to campaign for a Steam Greenlight. I have kept track of them, subscribed to their email news letter, and tried to keep them as honest as possible for mobile by discussing my concerns about this on their green light forum and they say they haven't stopped working on the next mobile episodes one day since green lighting. Their excuse is that they already had the PC version even before the mobile version, and want to get PC going so they can consistently then release the future episodes to both platforms simultaneously. I give them the benefit of my doubt, but...giving the benefit of the doubt is a character flaw in myself, I give it to a fault. So, I hope I won't be disappointed with how things go there, AND with similar decisions in many other mobile games I have and inevitably will...fall in love with like TTE and Morphite. I agree, it seems like devs should and would actually WANT to provide the best support to the fanbase that has, in many cases, propelled it to such a height. I hope they are keeping these things in mind and don't forget about us! I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my PC, PS4, and 3ds gaming even more so than most of my mobile gaming, but...for one thing...I never really feel compelled to or want to play games developed for the mobile platform on my awesome power house of a gaming PC...just....eh...why ya know? Also, I take into account and understand that the gaming business in general is quite competitive and devs, especially small and/or new devs are most likely not making much money...and of course being able to make a living for the shit ton of time they spend making these gems we come to love is VERY important so I can see things in that light as well...do I dunno...I just hope they do and will continue to in the future...give back and try as hard as possible to put first...their original fan base. And again, this is not necessarily what I believe concerning Josh's intentions, it's just become a noticeable trend lately in general. I know also, that through the course of a game's development MANY unexpected twists and other things can happen etc that can change course, of course...it's just not always the best excuses (Cough...Torment: Tides of Numenera...cough cough).
I guess this is yet another reminder that mobile gaming is no longer the hot new thing, unless it can be monetized infinitely, not just sold at five bucks for unlimited play. Game looks good, if not the kind of thing I would want to play on a PC or console when there's so much other stuff on those platforms. It's still instabuy for me when it comes out for iOS. Got plans for Nintendo Switch version?
Actually no focus being taken off the mobile version in fact the console versions are being ported by Blowfish Studios and not us directly. So we'll be continuing full time work on Morphite and it will just be more polished than it would have if we had released it earlier. Yes, Switch is in the plans too.
Now that is relieving to hear! I don't mind devs porting to other platforms but if it gets in the way of the mobile development then it can be a little annoying. But it really is good to hear that is not the case.
Awesome! Nice to hear all this, and the fact it will be on the switch is intriguing as well. Not any time soon, but I will definitely be getting a switch, if for nothing else...Xenoblade Chronicles 2! When XBC2 is about to release is probably when I'll purchase, the first one is on my list of top five favorite vidja games ever.
Can't wait for this. Some new footage to get me even more hyped would be amazing. Maybe a 3rd trailer?! Haha anyways, I'll be sure to support Morphite on whatever platforms it comes out on!
As I mentioned earlier, if you're really excited about this game, I recommend you follow polygonalmind on Instagram. They put up new screenshots every day, as well as short gameplay videos. I personally can't wait for it to be released!
hey guys - here's a little update for #screenshotsaturday been working hard on the final chapter (which seems to be taking the longest) I'm really excited to get the story finished so that we can move on to adding more content, side missions, etc
Wow, this game is going to be so thick with content. Very good job Josh, this'll be one that you will be remembered for.
Eeeeeeeh...no. Pretty sure this will knock Aralon outta the water. Not that Aralon is bad....buuut..c'mon #
Been a little while since I've posted. We just roughed in the 'final' cutscene in the game, which means we are moving onto polishing. There is one sort of half level in between that still needs to get finished, but other than that, story is all done, polishing, side missions and content from here on out. Here are some new images. Enjoy! -Josh
My estimate is early Fall. We will have an announcement pretty soon about everything along with the new trailer. Been working hard finishing the last 'half' level. (although its feeling like a full sized level) then the game is fully playable story wise from start to end. Then polish and side missions (I keep saying that)
