info Actually the unreal engine just optimized the graphics to run properly and smoother on iphone. Its up to the artist and thier talent if they can create graphics like you see in infinity blade. If you used the same graphics and put it unity it will look same way.Its not the engine , its the developers and artist who use it.
Yes, but backend royalty fees must be paid to Epic, who owns this engine. I suspect this will not be the case. Based upon the relative success of IB, I expect to see more first party support of the Unreal Engine. That alone would make me happy. I just hope Epic creates more of a full-fledged gaming experience using UE3. Something to please the so-called hardcore/dedicated gaming audience. I suspect whatever that is will cost at least the price of Chaos Rings, but I would gladly pay it myself. Also, you must be talented in development and experienced with the engine to make a game look like that. The vast majority of developers could not with the Unreal Engine in their hands make something that comes anywhere close to replicated what Epic is capable of doing with their own engine.
Yeah. Epic has some of the best artists on their staff, along with some very intelligent designers. Not only does Infinity Blade look amazing, but the gameplay is a lot of fun, and the story is fascinating; I can't wait to see where it goes in the update. I'm sure others will be able to use UE3 to do some very pretty games, but I doubt most of them will be as interesting. What has Gameloft done recently that looks even kind of as good as Infinity Blade?
http://kotaku.com/5713440/more-iphone-games-will-soon-look-this-good Lol at the comments: "wouldn't really call Epic a game development "powerhouse" anymore. One-trick pony is more like it these days, sadly. That being said, it'll be interesting to see if any developers bother to put in the effort necessary to make their iPhone games look good, or if they'll continue to shovel out cheaply made crap because they know the userbase is too ignorant to care." "the only (mobile) games for me that have a high replay value are the basic boredom games (doodle jump, Angrybirds, Tetris), with Street Fighter IV as an exception. These intense, more complex, more time consuming games keep me entertained for a week or two then I never use them again." "Maybe I'll start to care when half of my screen isn't taken up by my fingers." Thats real gamers for you.
wow, i could actually feel my IQ dropping reading those comments! It's the Kotaku Commentor Leach effect in full force!
