Agreed! As I've said you have to pay for quality, something that seems to have been forgotten in the cheap plastic age. Buy this and kill freemium!
Congratulations to the guys of ustwo, the game looks awesome, and the press response was simply unbelievable!
It took me around 50 minutes. Easily obe of the best (if not the best) iOS games out tgere. This is a shining example of what the App Store should have.
I beat the game in 1.5 / 2 hours, as I got stuck at some points and kept trying until I found the solution and felt stupid. The unravelling of certain 'secrets' was an amazing experience and I was like 'wow', 'ahaa' etc. the whole time. Definitely recommend it, although I feel like it's a little too low on content. I'll just wait for an update now and play through the whole thing again.
I wish people would enjoy this, regardless of the "short" length. It's frustrating to hear so many complaints about that. I WANT more games like this!! Please ignore the comments about the "high price" and "shortness" of it. We need to be supporting these great games so hopefully there will be more and more of the same quality. I felt happy, sad, intrigued, and so drawn in to this world. Unforgettable!! ##
This is one of my favourite game of the year with Oasis and Tanuki Forest (different genre). Its very very unique, its beautiful, poetic and so clever! I love it very much, my only complain is that it is too short.
Deciding between this and Device 6 this week. Very intrigued by this game but I'm worried it's too short. Anyone have an opinion who has played both games?
I'll add my two cents here with everyone. Bought it and played it last night. Maybe took me about an hour. It's a beautiful and really creative and fun game... but it is incredibly short. And I hate to complain about the length of a game but I feel it is a big value point. It's only $4 which is nothing, less than a 20 piece if we're going by chicken nuggets. It reminds me of The Room a bit, and as I played the game i increasingly wanted to play the room instead. I hate to compare it to The Room but it's happening so here it goes. Both are very short, but as soon as I finished the room I wanted to play again and I did, after I finished this I deleted it. Having said that, if they added other levels I would definitely download it again and play again. Both have a great atmosphere but the room has a great story and really draws you in, with this I had fun but wasn't drawn in and didn't care about the story. In all, it's a good game. Extremely beautiful and creative. But it's very short with, at least for me, little replayability. $4 isn't much so I'm not going to complain about the price, but many will. Is it worth it? Depends on the person. If you're old like me and payed $60 for spy hunter on NES then sure, $4 is nothing. If you think games like FTL and xcom are overpriced then no.
I'm 'hoping' the hard work is done (eg they've got the 'engine' already) so 'perhaps' adding more rooms wont be as difficult as getting it to work initially. I think either way due to the success of the app i'm certain we'll get updates/new levels at some point in the near future. See we're a tough bunch ! If we're not moaning about freemium or IAP's we're moaning if a games too short Nice to hear from the dev, the second you have any future levels/updates please let us know
It would certainly be interesting to hear from the devs about the game being too short in many opinions of us humble fans/customers. Yes the game is beautiful but with its amount of content at this moment in time, I will put my head on the chopping block and question whether it is worth the asking price? There, have I said what others have avoided? The game gets universal praise, I'm thrilled with that but I think many will still feel short changed because it's over just as your getting your teeth into No offence meant to anyone GaZ
It's a prettier and easier version of echochrome. I like it. The only "complaint" is, unlike echochrome, this is reallllllllly short. Like, really. @GaZ-OiD: I agree with what you're saying, and IMO, while a pretty cool little game, it feels like a demo. It's really that short.
It's only $4. That's a steal for this experience. Seriously, I'm not even saying that because I love the game. If this was a PC indie, it could have easily been $5, $6, or more.
I'll take the bait. To me its worth it, yeah you could say its quite dear considering how much content you get but Apple take what is it, 40% of the price of each sale anyway. I'm sure this game took many months to create so i'm quite happy letting the dev have 60% share of the couple of quid it cost me to buy it. Plus one reason why i buy games on release is that the dev gets the maximum money, i dont want for price drops or beg for codes all the time. The way i think is IF this game does well then we'll all benefit as we'll get more levels and more content (i presume). If we all sat on the fence when a great 'indie' type game comes out with no IAP's and which isnt freemium, then we will be stuck with the usual type of games. When something like this appears i feel you should support it as it encourages a game like this. I mean if this does well we might get other 'clones/homages' of it which will also be good for us (perhaps the dev wont be too pleased !) as the app store is a 'copycat' type of store. The dev seems friendly, surely right now hes surely talking to his team saying we need more content. The price of a few pounds to support a great game like this, i'm all for.
I agree with your points and I was not trying to set a bait.. I bought the game, supported the devs and would always sooner pay hard cash than other freemium crap. Maybe the devs needed to get this out now because they needed some income now but this really should be only the foundation to a full fledged game imo I'm not saying every future level pak if that happens should be free but the amount of content in its present form is very underwhelming. GaZ
I'll take a short game that feels complete any day over a long game that drags on forever that I never finish. Monument Valley was incredible, and it's hard to think of anything I've bought recently with a better pennies spent to enjoyment derived ratio.
