I agree with the above poster about the balancing, in the long run I don't think the electric and alien should be overpowered like they are, it would make more sense for each element to have its strength and weakness so there isn't one monster to rule them all, one monster to kill them all (Which at the minute would be alien with electric being a close second)
Right so I'm thinking posting the clan info here was a mistake as now there's a couple of level 1 people in there who haven't done anything so we can't progress past level1, I think there's going to have to be a way to force people to play nice or have a way to remove people from your clan that are not playing? Or maybe you just need to only start a clan with people you know who are going to play. Just my experiences with the clans part today.
Yes. Some kind of adjustment needs to be made. But I'm sure they will take care of it. Here is a copy of the PM I sent to the developer before seeing your comments: Hi there, You mentioned to PM you with issues on clans. This isn't really a bug or anything, but wanted to mention it. I joined the Touch Arcade clan that someone started. I got to Level 4, but can't progress because I need to wait for my clan members to catch up (which I DO like - that's cool). The problem is - we keep having people join the clan. So it seems like there will forever be someone at Level 1, preventing me from doing anything in that clan anymore. So this brought to mind some questions: - Is there a limit to the number of people in a clan? Should there be? - If not, can you make it so the clan starter determines the max amount of members? This would force a first-come first-served clan membership, but I think it would be helpful when posting open clans on big forums like this. - Also - I didn't see a way to be a member of multiple clans at the same time. Can you? I see that I can leave this clan. But what happens if I leave? Would I be able to rejoin - and resume at my same level - or would I start over at Level 1? I think it would be cool to be able to be a member of a couple/few clans simultaneously so I could play through a campaign with my kids, for example, and then also be playing through with the members here. Just an idea - not sure how difficult that is technically. Thanks!!
I'm pretty sure the limit on clan members is 10. And being able to join multiple clans would be cool because then you should be able to find one where people are wanting to try.
All of this enthusiasm and feedback is great, you guys are the best! You're already at a 100% thanks now in my book . Thanks, we tried to go gentle on the stamina regen timer. Ideally clans would have an admin who could boot players, but this was going to be complicated and potentially buggy. Instead, we made it so clan progress carries over, so if you somehow end up with someone in your clan who isn't progressing, you and your friend can start a new clan and pick up right where you left off. As you suggested in your later post, clans dungeons are really intended to be played with friends. If you distribute the code randomly you'll get some more people, but you'll have a tough time enforcing their progression. We recommend random distribution of friend codes but selective distribution of clan codes. First off, LOVE your monsters! Chat would be cool. We've never built a chat system before, but it's on the radar. Our biggest concern is safety, and the liability that comes with facilitating in-game communication in a game that is sometimes played by younger kids. Some devs risk it, but we've chosen not to thus far. We'd be more inclined to go for pseudo chat system that lets you choose from a variety of pre-constructed messages. I addressed the customization stuff earlier in the thread. Long story short, we want people to get creative with basic primitive pieces (like in minecraft) rather than throwing hundreds of specialty items at players. We'll be adding larger grids to open up more cube-based possibilities. Skill trees + evolution: both cool ideas, both would require a ton of content building time, and it just comes down to prioritization. We're only a two man team, so we design our games for medium tier complexity. We're always keeping an open ear to feedback (ask any of our TA forum regulars!), and we need to see what sort of features garner the most requests before we undertake anything major like skill trees. In response to certain types being stronger: this is true, and if there was no influx of new players then yes, eventually most players would have alien type monsters. We made the choice to follow the model of our previous games (like Guncrafter) and have a distinct tier of higher caliber items to make the achievement of unlocking them more rewarding. Technically you can develop any monster to have the same stats as any electric or alien type. Having advanced types allows veteran players to create a new monster later in the game cycle that is still able to compete with their existing monsters. We didn't want players to unlock a brand new, rare monster type and then have to spend the next week leveling it up for it to be able to compete at the same level as their other monsters. Hey, just got your PM, hope it's ok to address here! I think I actually answered all of that in response to oooooomonkey above. Let me know if I'm missing anything You can leave and rejoin clans any time without losing progress
Thanks for the reply, guess I'll just skip the clans mode for now and finish the dungeons first, It's going to be too hard organising a clan because I don't have any real world friends who play the game.
I deffinetly think something has to be done about the online monster switching and also a turn timer. I just had an online match where we switched back and forth between different monsters to have the elemental advantage for about 15minutes before I just put down my iPad and went to make a drink and the other person eventually quit. So in the end nobody won because no one gets xp or anything if the other person quits 20minutes wasted.
You I was just thinking this would have been even cooler if the blocks were smaller, so it was more like blocky roads and I could have recreated some classic pixel art characters I'm not getting the creative feeling I usually get from it being pretty limited to wait you can build. Still loving the game and battling just not getting that creative buzz I usually get.
Oh man I like this. It's the first scorpion I've seen with claws. Bigger grids are coming, which is effectively the same as minimizing the blocks. Hang tight!
