Alright so I'm now doing amazing with sword and shield, love the combo attacks. I might try out dual scythes and hammer later but I think I found my weapon of choice. I do have one question about the beginning of the game. I've completed two grandma quests so far and I've received 1 armor charge, but I have no idea where I got it from, how do I get more to upgrade my beginning set of armor?
Do you mean armor spheres? You can get them by mining (mission or farm), and sometimes as a mission reward.
I'm having a lot of buyers remorse now. Please don't think I'm bashing the game, I'm certainly not. I'm just having a really hard time with the controls and it's my fault not the games but still.. I'm currently regretting my purchase atm. I'm not saying that to put others off the game, like I said the fault lies with me not the game. Hate to waste £10 though :/
Mene I think you and me will just have to get used to it. I'm sure it will become easier after a few hours
I also had a really REALLY hard time when i first started. And while I'm by no means super successful now (Congalala is a pain!) I have managed to work through some quests just with the help of one thing; patience. Like someone earlier in the thread said--i was going in with somewhat of a "God of War" mentality. Once I changed my mindset to Dark Souls things went a little better. This game is wonderfully infuriating AND fun. I've wanted to throw my iPad more than once though, I don't care to admit.
The only problem I've found with the controls is that the circle pad sticks when moving in town if you have thick fingers like myself, since it doubles for movement and making selections. It works fine for me on quests though. And the camera took some getting used to, but being able to swipe the camera is way easier than I would imagine shifting it around with hardware controls. I also took some time getting familiar with some of the action buttons.
Runs fantastic on that device. I have it and have never seen the framerate drop. Quick load times, smooth game, fantastic gameplay. Get it
I'm surprised at how fast the load times/save times, better then the 50 mb game made for iOS it's almost instantaneous.
Wow... I now love longhorn +.... Slower than my duels but wow... Noob question, what in the heck can kill or get the dang crab looking things away from me in the jungle???
I wonder if somebody could help me? I can't seem to be able to do any training missions. When I go to the training school there are three lines but they are filled with question marks and it says go and speak to the chief. I thought this guy was the chief? Can somebody help me?
As for the crabs in the jungle. Just kill em. They are just like any other enemy and can be carved for mats. As for the training school...If I remember correctly you need to fight the monster in the Chiefs quests before it unlocks at the school. To clear confusion the chief is the little old lady opposite the training school with the cat behind her. Finally as for the controls. They are a little strange at first. I had logged many hours into my psp back in the day playing this and getting accustomed to the claw was the same way. Just imagine the buttons in this like a rhythm game. Take your time with some monsters and make use of the lock on features. Some of the future beasties like Tigrex and the Blos will be rage inducing if you try to rush it.
The armor sphere question is already answered so I'll just give you some more pointers for weapons. For dual swords, long swords and sword and shield, aims for ones that has elemental/status damage with high sharpness. Other weapons benefit more from raw damages.
Really enjoying the game now that I have an idea of what I'm doing. I did the grandma popo tongue quest and once I got to the summit a huge dinosaur jumped out of nowhere! I'm assuming this is jut a future beast to take down because he hit me once while I ran away like a little girl and almost killed me. Thankfully he went away and I finished the quest, but is that normal so early in the game?
Yes, if I remember correctly, most if not all of the games in the series do this to set the "antagonist" for you to defeat later on.
That is a Tigrex. It is possible to defeat him but it holds no real value this early in the game. It would be rare to get all the parts to make something in this one kill. He will only show up this once though. Any subsequent runs in that quest won't spawn one. You'll be wiping the floor with him in a dedicated quest in no time.
The chief is the elder standing right between the guild hall and the item shop. You'll only need to talk to her in. The beggining, and she'll ask you to go to the training hall.
I didnt expect how much ds, sns and ls are easier to get into through your comments guys. I'll make videos of GS and Hammers against starting monsters so you'll get ideas on how to use them. We need more GS and Hammer love! And lances. I love the lances in MH. I only got into GLs in MHP3 when they buffed it.
Do the crabs have to be turned a certain way cause it's a 1 star quest and I'm hitting with longhorn multiple times and not dropping
As far as I remember you just have to hit them a lot. I always used a hammer and it took them down pretty quick but I can't remember if minor monsters account for impact and cutting damage as well. Edit: The only frame rate hiccup I have noticed so far is the one time I let the "snowman" effect timeout naturally and got a stutter when the ice broke. Anyone else notice this?
Hitting him anywhere deals damage, but hitting him in the front part without the shell does more. Longhorn is still a basic weapon so it will take some effort. That thing has quite a bit of health for beginners.
