I want to make a video and i was wondering if there are any monsters you'd like to see being fought. You can also suggest weapon types i'll use but that i cant guarantee since i dont have decent weapons from some classes yet.

I've been playing for an hour or so and I have to say that I'm finding the controls tricky, especially the camera. I'm not even close to giving up but I'm a little concerned that if I'm struggling with the controls on a basic level then fighting big monsters might be a task too hard.

    I'll persevere though.

    Hi all

I am new to this series and am thinking of trying out this game.

Will be primarily playing on an iPad Air. Is the graphic "retina quality"?

Secondly it is feasible to solo with a bow weapon most of the time?

So what's the deal with the 'target monster' thing?
I read somewhere that you can change it or something in options, but I don't even know what it does.
I also find the 'swipe to move camera' thing annoying, and if someone knows of any way to make the camera follow behind the character that would be great.
I'm surprised that there aren't any options to change the control layout.
Also, how do you find out what different abilities do? I think il just go onto the wikia and see if I can find a list of the skills there.

Ok well that my cry baby moment done. I love the game in almost all other regards.

Yeah a 'follow character' option for the camera would help me ENORMOUSLY!
I'm having a blast but the camera control is hampering my game and I've not yet got to attacking full monsters so I imagine it'll only get worse.

I don't know about the retina business, but your success in game depends just as much, if not more, on your skills and knowledge of how to fight properly.
I personally find using the bows tricky, but that's just my opinion.

You mean like a camera lock-on? Coz there is.

    When on default camera controls:

    1. Tap on the monster icon on the left (this icon is tappable when the monster sees you the first time). This will put a targetting symbol on this icon.

    2. When the monster is in the same area as you and is visible, tap any where outside the buttons to engage lock-on. This will make the camera follow the monster, always putting it at the center of your screen.

Notes: To disengage camera lock-on, you can either tap anywhere outside of buttons again, or swipe left on the run button. When a monster leaves an area, or burrows underground, camera lock-on will automatically disengage.

Thanks for that, but what me and Mene are talking about is a camera that follows behind the hunter, so that you always see the back of your hunter. That way you wouldn't run into monsters you didn't know were there or have to constantly have a finger moving the camera to the optimal position.

I use PhoneView on my Mac. If you have jilbroken devices, I suppose you could send the save file from one device to Dropbox or something and then download it to the other device and cut/paste it into the app's documents folder.

The only way I know of to get the camera following you is by activating targeting mode with a bow equipped but that's it.

btw, I love bows! Just got my Kut Ku Bow and it's rocking so bad! 3 arrows for every normal shot and 4/5 when charged is insane ^_^
I'll never put my bow down anymore.

You can lock on to monsters that are large enough to warrant an icon on the left side of the screen. Tap that icon to toggle lock-on, and then tapping in the background will turn the camera toward the monster.

Btw. that the camera doesn't follow the character is a general MH thing, early on it can be a little irritating but personally I find it's useful later when you start trying to hit specific parts of a monster, like cutting off the tail or breaking body parts, because it makes the movement controls more consistent.

What you're meant to do is try things out. The wiki is quite extensive and you can find pretty much anything online if you'd rather look stuff up. But the game is structured so that you can start out without any detail knowledge and then slowly learn as you go.

    ---

Check out your guild card via the menu. This game tracks tons of stuff all the way up to the largest and smallest size of each monster you defeated. The "awards" section is basically achievements. They're for things like clearing all quests in a certain difficulty range or leveling up all your cats or reaching certain milestones like defeating one of a few specific monsters for the first time. But no "kill 500 XYZ" ones.

They're not tied to gamecenter as far as I can tell, so no points.

Thankfully when you tap the map the camera should automatically go behind your hunter. I think the same happens when you tap that box in the mid left part of the screen too.

I can see your point on the 'learning as you go', but I'd rather not waste all my materials on something that I might not want. Some materials don't come easy :)

With the amount of changing directions on the fly especially when you're meleeing (believe me i know what im talking about) i dont think a constant follow mode would work here.

For everyone who saw my previous post about the iOS MHFU Facebook group and joined it: Thanks for joining but I decided to delete it 'cause I just don't think I'll have the time to get new members and be active in it, since my college classes start up soon.

This is the last post I'm making about it, just wanted to get this message back to the people who saw my previous post.

Perhaps you're right but I for one am quite struggling with the camera positioning and it's detracting from such a great game.

Man, I am so tempted to buy this game but I have 3 Ultimate on the wii u and have barely made a dent. Would you guys say this version is much the same/not as good. I realise this is a port of an older game. Are people playing online even from 2-3 hours in? Because the solo hunting doesn't appeal too much to me...
