I guess it varies by region. The store doesn't charge tax. Got one cent leftover in credit. Playing the game now. So far so good!
AFAIK, It's always 50 mins for regular solo, duo and marathon missions, and 30 mins for special ones like Lao and Shen. Its also technically 50 mins for the elder dragons, but if you've dealt enough damage without killing them, they flee as early as 20 mins into the fight.
There's the all-rounder Sword and Shield (SNS), the fast Dual Swords (DS), the single-heavy-hitting Great Sword (GS), the mobile Longswords (LS), the triple hopping Lances, the defensive Gunlance (GL), the KO-ing Hammers, the buff-oriented Hunting Horns (HH), the no-ammo Bows, the rapid firing Light Bowguns, and the glass cannon Heavy Bowguns.
Lucky, in Washington, USA tax is charged so I always have to worry about that. Sometimes I think I have enough only to be off by a few cents.
Gotta say, this is about 1,000 times better on an iPad than MH3 on a 3DS. The text is large and readable, the camera controls more fluid and natural and in all honesty, the way they implemented touch actually rivals (even surpasses in some instances) the physical ones.
For melee, Sword and Shield, Longswords and Duals are the easiest to learn. Greatswords will be too slow for starters. Hammers dont have blocking ability so without knowing how monsters act can get you killed. HH are tricky to use while maintaining buffs on yourself. Gunlances and Lances can feel awkward at first since they dont have the roll ability once the weapon is unsheathed, as they have the hop backs. Plus, they are really slow. On the upside, they have the best blocking ability, and really shine with Guard+ skills. The ranged weapons are good too if your style is shooting from afar. I suggest starting with either bows or light bowguns as they are quite mobile. Heavy bowguns are really slow, and is like the ranged version of GS. They hit hard, but you should know when or where to move around the monster to fire your shots.
Am I the only one having a massive amount on diffucluty with even one star quests? The monsters get way tougher then they were in the tutorial. I've only beat one real quest. Is this commen or am I really bad?
Dont worry, this is pretty common to those new to the series. Most new players still have a "god of war-ish" mindset which you need to get rid of if you want to get by this game. In this game, you need to place your attacks carefully, in the right angles, in the right openings. Make sure that after your attack, you can move out right after, or you can block. Running towards a monster and attacking wont get you very far. Once you get a rhythm going, that's where the real fun begins. Elder quests and low rank guild quests are pretty forgiving since it would take 6 to 8 hits to get you down to zero, so it's a great way to know your way around these bosses. In G-rank, some monsters can one-shot you, and chunking more than half your HP bar is pretty common. But once you've learned how long of an opening a monster gives you after it attacks, you'll know the right attacks to put out, and when to back out again.
That's really helpful! I was mostly just spamming attacks and trying to get out of the way after that. I'll definitely be changing my strategy now. Thanks!
Been playing the game for a little while now. I seem to be having problems with the auto targeting feature though. I completed the "basic" tutorial, and never once did the camera follow or target any of the monsters. I see lots of possible camera settings in the options. Can anyone clue me in on what settings I need? Thanks in advance
They might also be working on keeping the save files size down just like the KOTOR did before they updated with iCloud. And that game was originally only on iPad. So they added quite a bit!
Hey, man. I understand being dissatisfied with a game release. I tried to one-star rate Spider-Man 2 on this forum because it was online only. And people got hot and heavy over that. And what happened? They announced the game will finally have an offline campaign. So, if there's something you would like to see added to this game, let them know however you see fit. You gave them a sale and have a right to be heard. Whether I agree or not doesn't matter. Hopefully we'll see that iCloud save eventually. Until then, I do hope they get good sales and reviews to keep them motivated and employed!
Fixed the keyboard thing. So this game is great, between gta san andreas. Im going to try and beat the game to the end
As a player since MH1 on PS2, I'm loving this. I played this game through to the end on PSP and it's just been long enough that it's fresh. However, a few problems. Is the game supposed to have a "lock on" camera? Haven't figured that out if it does, and some reviews imply that it does. A lot of people seem to disconnect. I don't know if it's the server architecture or what. I don't think it's me specifically as I never have trouble with any other game or console, but in this specifically, people DC a lot. Could just be from exiting the app or whatever.
So basically if you have played dark souls and done well will you be able to play this game and do well? If the combat is anything like a dark souls game than I will definitely want to get it!
The game doesn't run on my iPhone 5, I tried to reboot but it still doesn't work, the game crashes right at the beginning
Yep. The combat is kinda like Demons Souls in a way that you should keep an eye on the enemy's movement first and react to his movements by placing yourself correctly and placing your attacks, while preparing to move on the defensive again.
You can lock on to real monsters. Tap their icon on the left side of the screen to toggle. When it's active, tapping in the background will turn the camera toward the monster instead of aligning it behind you.
I woke up yesterday morn before work and saw it was released and purchased on my iphone just before running to work. It was a slow day so I got quite a bit of playtime in and couldn't wait to get home and load it on my ipad. Well I was let down pretty hard as you probably know. I left a good review with a 1 star rating which was pretty irrational. I should've thought about it more and went a different route but it's all good now, I just hope that iCloud does come into play because the game is badass and plays far superior to the psp version that I started to get into years ago
