Yeah it's good that we've resurrected it We need a fresh load of young bucks to teach to really liven the place I reckon. EP don't you have a kid? ;P Side note: EP I just had a proper look at your display pic for the first time and that's pretty neat! I recognise all but the middle one. I think I've grown out of this account, and when I get a new game started I'll make a new account here, too. I'll let you know who I am, just consider it a change of name because I make this before I really settled on a 'tag'.
True dat. Just like the good ol days...which was just last year iirc lol. Still Sandwich in game, still a bow user This is a new TA account since on my previous one, my IRL name was there lol
What timezone/time of day do people here tend to play? I wouldn't mind getting on with some reliable players.
I have discord but never actually used it. Do you think we could use it for hunts? Does it allow for that kind of thing without risking drop outs of the game? Voice chat?
Hi folks. I haven't been able to figure out for sure if the iOS 10 issues with the left d-pad have been resolved (and I'm too paranoid to update to 10). Is anyone running MHFU on iOS 10? How is it?
I have two little ones... A 3 and a 1. The 3-year-young one likes monster hunter a bit. I just usually let him run around the town though when i cant play with him, or when i am, we do gathering quests and hunt little monsters, he cant sheathe weapons on his own. When his weapon's out, he keeps swinging them and eventually gets frustrated coz no monster comes in the swing path of his weapon. LOL The middle one is Boson X. This reminds me... I should update it.
WOOHOO!!! Just took down my first rathalos!!! (guild 2* quest 9). I've always been kinda "scared" of fighting a rathalos (as he was pretty fierce in Monster Hunter Explore), but the time came to face him in MHFU, and I'm glad it did! The 1st two attempts ended in violent failure, so I went looking for help. A couple of videos later I had a bit more knowledge, but I still wanted a bit more help. I looked up the use of armorskin, demondrug etc, and I also purchased the power/armour charm pair from the guild vendor. They don't make a *huge* difference, but every bit counts, right?! So, armed with more knowledge (and confidence!) I headed into the 3rd rathalos attempt... this time my flash bombs were more accurate, and I managed to get several hits in after each flash. I broke both wings and his tail, and soon he was limping (am I the only one that feels *terrible* slaying a beast that is trying to limp away?). Shortly after that it was all over, and I was rewarded with a *lot* of loot post-fight. Now, I've had A LOT of fun with this amazing game, but that was easily my favourite fight so far. Absolutely loved it. Rathalos is a really well designed enemy (in terms of move-set), and the fight never felt cheap or annoying (I'm looking at you Plethios you b@st@rd!). Really looking forward to slapping rathalos around a lot more and farming the heck out of him! Wow... I'm 110 hours in, and still having a blast! I never thought I'd say this, but... I think Dark Souls may have met its match for my number 1 game of all time... not sure yet, but it's looking more and more likely all the time.
Hahaha! A very familiar story! As for Dark Souls, the devs did claim that Monster Hunter was one of their biggest influences for the game, which isnt really surprising if one has played both games (although some think MH was influenced by DS, in which case still proves they have some similarities).
Indeed, the MH influences can be felt everywhere in DS. The lack of a pause feature, the RNG drop system, the huge bosses, the careful combat, the learning required, the penalties for failure, the lack of guidance (though MH features the BIGGEST TUTORIAL EVER)... the influence is very clear. I guess it's why many gamers love both games (though I'm quite late to the MH party!). The tone however is of course very different. DS is very (*very*) dark and pretty depressing (apart from the nutty ragdoll physics), while MH is bright and really goofy (anthropomorphic cats?!?!?! What the blimmin' heck?). You know what'd be awesome? A new DS with the tone of MH. Hell yes.
I tried searching this thread but came up short so i figured i'd ask Can you do the countdown trick with rust stones like in the psp version? I've been trying for hours but still no rust weapons, only crappy white ones i have no interest in Has anyone successfully gotten the hidden counter down by doing the same amount of quests as the amount of stones you need to polish?
Ok, thanks So it seems i have to polish a large amount at once and if i get a rust, remember what number it was and reset the game It works but it's a bit of a waste of stones
First Rathian down!!! Took 2 attempts, but after using flash bombs to make the previous Rathalos a bit easier, I thought I'd try Rathian without flash bombs. Not an overly difficult fight, except for when you get poisoned by her tail, and then rammed, causing dizziness. There were some tense moments during the battle! Well, that's all the 2* guild quests done. Onto the 3* quests now... soon HR2 will be mine... yes, yes it will.
FINALLY!!! 120 hours in, and I have reached HR2! The reason it took me this long is that I had concentrated solely on the village elder quests (I've unlocked 5* quests). I had totally forgotten about the guild quests, so I knuckled down and got to work on them. In the end, the 1, 2, and 3* guild quests were easy, probably due to the weapon/armour I've acquired through doing the village elder quests. The only difficult bit was the damn blangonga urgent quest, which was the last one before HR2 was awarded. Blangonga is always a pain in the butt, but this blangonga seemed tougher than usual. He took a lot longer to take down, and hit harder as well (and he was very aggressive). He knocked me unconscious twice before I took him down. But when it was done, the game (rather unceremoniously!) announced that I had reached Hunter Rank 2. Big sigh of relief and satisfaction. Now I'm looking over the 4* guild quests... erm... yes. Bit of a jump in challenge there... There seem to be quite a few quests with 2 large monsters to take down. Gulp... Also had my first go against the (very beautiful) kirin (village elder 5* quest). Doesn't seem to hit too hard, but I realised that my eager cleaver isn't terribly useful against it. The raw damage will probably suffice though. The big problem with it is finding opportunities to hit it! I haven't run a full attempt on it yet (I had to stop playing before getting far into the quest), but it looks like it'll be a bit annoying. I'm going to do a few basarios runs (easiest large monster in the game, from what I've seen so far), so I can make basarios armour, due to its high thunder resistance. Should help a little with the kirin. I'm also considering creating a S+S of some sort, just for something different. I love LS combos, but I feel like a change of weapon. Using a Sonic Bow I against the basarios has been fun.
It's really nice to hear stuff like this ^! Great to see people's are still enjoying the game. I (guiltily) took some time out of exam revision to jump online and found that the chat was still active and people joined my room consistently! Good to see it didn't die after the iOS bug catastrophe. Helped some lower HR players whiz through some quests, and although I was a bit rusty I quickly got back into the groove. Since I'm going to make a new account I didn't hesitate to use consumables and made it rain with flashbombs and traps haha Can I call my next hunter the same name? If no, do I have to delete the game and reinstall? (Want to keep my name) I suppose it doesn't matter if I have to throw my hr 8 guy in the trash for a new hr 1 since I wouldn't use him anymore... I only have 2 more exams to go everyone, so this monster hunter will be reincarnated soon!
