After exams I'm going to start from scratch. EP I used to use a hammer and LS but am thinking of switching to a great sword, what do you think? Any GS-specific tips? I might make some hammers too for versatility...
For GS, go for Raw damage type only. The only reason you'd want elemental damage is to cut certain parts, but based on MHFU's damage formula, GS will always deal the most damage with a high raw weapon. And learn sniping... It's one of the most powerful techniques in the game for the GS. With unsheathe crit skill active, the GS's unsheathed strike using the best raw weapons is one of the most powerful hit-n-run tools in the game. It's pretty quick and safe too.
Could you please explain or point me to where I can learn sniping (won't be playing for a fortnight so no rush)? Also what armor should I aim for to give me some good GS skills? Thanks EP!
Sniping is basically just running around with the sword sheathed, then pressing attack to perform an unsheathed attack on the weakpoint, then rolling away, sheathing, and running around again. This damage is amplified by Unsheathed Crit armor skill. I wrote this about Art of Unsheathing skill, which is the best skill for GS, 7 years ago(!), I hope it helps. For GS skills, the most beneficial are Unsheathed Crit, Sharpness+1, Atk Up+, and Quick Charge. Here's a quick video i made (2 years ago! and this is already on iOS ) too so show how you can use GS sniping to take advantage of a monster's (tigrex in this case) turn animation to place a hit on to a monster's weakpoint (Tigrex's head) and rolling away to safety.
I forgot to mention i actually started from scratch yesterday too, with a female character and that long double ponytail, and im maining a Hammer with her for some Harley Quinn love. Was only able to put in an hour though... LOL
I was also planning to start as a female! Never really tried it in games because 'I AM MANLY MAN!' but have grown out of that. The armor will be like new! And thanks for the vids EP, 'preciate it!
I haven't used a female char (yet) either but it seems they sport some pretty cool outfits compared to the male versions. I guess also after logging so many hours in this game a female char would be worth seeing over and over again.
Great vid by the way Pscience...(besides the whole dying at the end ). I just recently started getting into using GS's. Can't seem to get my timing together yet tho
*sudden flashback to me always choosing to be a boy in Pokemon and not a girl #* It was always a pleasant surprise to see a female player in the guild hall. The different armor style is a nice change since most people seem to choose the male model. I was surprised that EP didn't use a mega potion, given that he had them ready! One thing I know I'll have to start using is power seeds. I always used to hoard them because I used to despise unnecessary consumables *Sudden flashback to X attack boost and the like from Pokemon* Why is it that people use the seeds though and not the more powerful drinks you can make from them? I'm guessing it's not worth the materials?
Re female characters, I've always played as one. WoW, KotOR, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Oblivion, TitanQuest, Jade Emprie, etc. Easier on the eyes, well at least for me. Besides as a guy, when gaming for a long while, like maybe MHFU or Skyrim. I'd rather be staring at a sexy female body for 8 hours than some man's muscular behind lol #
I think the use of seeds is because of how attack boosts stack (I.e., felyne kitchen attack up large boost doesn't stack with mega demon drug, but the seed will). I'm already having a hard enough time trying to explain to my wife how/why I spend so much time on this game...imagine her seeing a half naked female char grace my iPad. Her - "Why don't you just MARRY that game??!" Me - (under my breath) "Don't threaten me with a good time."
^ Me I'm gonna be honest, guys are cool and all but I'd rather stare at a super awesome girl character while I play my games. I guess it's telling that I'm a huge Saber (Fate) fan. Even though I'm a guy, girl characters are a lot more fun for me to play as in games. But of course I think anyone should just pick whatever design they like better. Shouldn't matter what you choose as long as you like it yourself.
In my case, i like to imagine that i am the character i play (roleplaying if you may). This is how i really immerse myself in the games i play. Also gives me a different angle to look at a game when reviewing.
In the case of a first person view game I also like to imagine that it me playing as the main character, so I play as a male. However in a third person game I tend to think of myself as an overseer/guardian of the character and tend to bond more if I play the character as a female.
My character is female. I don't know why, but I always choose female characters, despite being a male myself. And my characters usually follow the same template - green eyes, red hair, long legs, pretty face. Actually, that likely explains why I play as female characters!
Well my character was named after Mikasa from Attack on Titan. Then I made a new one named after a character from Fate Stay Night. I'm not exactly creative myself..
