That im not sure. I live in japan and i can play just fine on multiplayer. Havent played with the TA guys though.
i've played several online games (completely lag-free, by the way) and i'm in the states. i haven't been able to figure out how to connect with certain people specifically, but general online lobbies work fine for me.
From what I've heard, lots of ppl liking the touch controls more. I'm pretty excited right now. This game - on the global market - will move the iPhone to a whole new class. An AAA (better: AAAA) title with great controls, good graphics, SEVERAL HUNDRED hours of gameplay... well, really. You can easily sink 400 hours into it. This will make even the last true handheld player look over.
I'm more surprised with Capcom doing something right for once. Every game they released on the App Store thus far had one or more problems. Widescreen support missing (Ace Attorney HD Trilogy), awful freemium-premium experiment (SFxT Mobile), etc., and now we'll get a port of the best Monster Hunter game to date with better graphics than the original, all content, online multiplayer and widescreen/controller support. UNBELIEVABLE.
I haven't been able to complete a team quest online. I keep getting kicked. Then searching for teams takes me 10-30 minutes to find a room. I have to keep trying over and over. Often I get into a room with a bunch of greyed out names with the people not inside, which is really weird. Anyhow, not working well for me. I'm not familiar with the comparisons, does this really have superior graphics? The original version was on PSP correct? I thought those would have good graphics as well. And I guess the PSP wasn't widescreen? I don't know the dimensions.
huh, that's too bad :c hopefully it'll start workin' for ya after it's released in the west not necessarily superior graphics but superior resolution for sure (it's a night-and-day difference, even) it was on PSP, yes, and it was, but i guess the retina display really shines through on iOS devices (not that i know technical details, either) yes. this is honestly a perfect game, and is (in my opinion) a better experience on iOS than on PSP, which i'd NEVER, EVER expected to hear myself saying, haha i really wish that handheld players and gamers in general would see this for what it truly is, but judging from comments on various sites, everybody seems to be too busy criticizing the controls they haven't yet tried out and making fun of iOS devices to appreciate this port the way it deserves to be appreciated. the worst part is that this port isn't JUST playable, or ONLY 'as good as it's gonna get with touch controls,' it's actually fully-functional and presents little to no issues in terms of playability for even controller-weilding gamers. the controls do take a little getting used to, but i say that in the same sense that it takes some time to start consistently remembering the functionality of each button on a physical controller as well
I can vouch for the great controls of the game, which imho really work well. Even after long gaming sessions (which everyone would likely have when they pick up the game), no cramped hands and fingers here
yeeup, totally agree there. controls work just like a dream. a mfi controller would pretty much just be an option to add some familiarity to playing the game. honestly, the multi-functional buttons were a genius idea, and they feel just perfect. after playing this, i have a lot of respect for the designers responsible, haha
The original MH on the psx was dual stick controlled similarly setup as the one on the iOS version, so the one on iOS isnt really an innovation anymore. I agree that it does well on the touchscreen though.
i meant the way buttons have several functions per (holding down and sliding in a certain direction) so that the screen isn't cluttered up with buttons, but you can still perform a wide variety of actions (even kicking haha)
I agree that the port is pretty amazing and the controls are near perfect. I'm glad they were able to make them as such. Think about it if they made BAD controls on the touch screen. MH is a type of game where controls could totally break it. Hunting takes pretty precise reflexes and control. One thing that bothers me about the control is that you can only "pan" the camera right on the map area, I usually use the area right below the map (a small gap between the map and the controls) but it's a complete dead zone. I especially had problems doing this with the bow which is one of the reasons I didn't choose that weapon. I naturally swipe right above the controls but you have to swipe higher than that and ON the map.. really odd.
Yeah, this version has such a feature, a "soft lock-on". It's described somewhere earlier in this thread.
Does this have any sort of in-game-chat or voice chat? Oh and does it run smoothly on A7 devices? Please say yes. *prays* I'm rly hyped for this. Already spent countless hours on the psp version and imagine playing this on my iPad with improved overall gameplay and graphics is just awsome ^_^
