The store description seems to be saying there aren't any plans for an iOS 9 update at this time, and I checked it in Japanese just to make sure it was the same there, too. It is. The only ray of hope I can offer is that Capcom has said this about games before and still come back around to fix them. And Monster Hunter does make them a lot of money in Japan, so there's financial incentive to do it, unless they're planning on launching a new game they think will fill that role. Slim chances, sadly.
Yep,Full Description: Notice: ・Before use, please check the Compatibility section below. ・This application is not compatible with iOS 9 (including the Beta). Bad,Bad Situation.it's a Full 14,99 Premium game,no problem to drop the asking money,I Support every Premium Game,as with the actual situation it's a risk,so I support every developers that offer premium Games,But a fix for iOS 9 I don't think it's a drama.
This and BioShock are one hell of a one-two-punch combo... I can't deny, this week has shaken my faith in the use of supporting premium games at launch and the immediate prospects for the future of the platform.
At least Capcom aren't giving us false hopes or expectations. However, this game has only been out 14 months. Sure, I got my $15 rental price out of it. But it's sad to hear that they don't have plans to update it to work with yet another iOS overhaul. What is it in iOS 9 that breaks this?! And is it possible to take a downloaded version of iOS 8.4 and install it on a new iPhone 6s? That's what it comes down to for me.
Just read an article on pocket gamer in the UK and they have an article in which Capcom says they will not be fixing this game to work with ios9. No joke total bs
Just to play devils advocate I didnt press the rental button I pressed the buy button. Maybe that button should change to rental had no idea I was only renting the games I've bought!
As I understand it, it's a rebellion of a powerful company against Apple's "game-screwing strategy" (intended or not) whenever there's an iOS update. We users are "just" collateral damage...
Has anyone been successful with a refund yet. Thinking about leaving an App Store review, urging customers who updated to iOS 9 to ask for a refund.
These 2 large games have proved in 2 days why premium doesn't work on mobile... This was/is my most favorite iOS game since I began using an idevice. Mobile gaming me future will always be who can use the best gimmick to get the most micro transactions. This makes me very irritated, as I want to believe that there is a future in mobile gaming but if all we continue to see is clones of CoC, heroes charge and Crossy roads, have success while games as great as mhfu get broken and unfixed... Mobile will not be as "great" as many people want it to be
Oh, I was just playing devil's advocate too. I personally think we should have access to all the content we ever purchased, whether it's been updated and works or not. However, Apple's terms of service say: "Some iTunes Eligible Content that you previously acquired may not be available for subsequent download at any given time, and Apple shall have no liability to you in such event. As you may not be able to subsequently download certain previously-acquired iTunes Eligible Content, once you download an item of iTunes Eligible Content, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage it, and you may want to back it up." So, having agreed to that when I purchase stuff, I realize that games like Bioshock might disappear. And as far as MHFU goes, it still works fine on my iPhone 5s iOS 8.4. And this may be the last device I use for a while. I might even look into battery replacement just to keep this iOS version, unless we can force 8.4 onto a 6s... which I might try some day.
We see eye to eye When that stuff went down w TWEWY that was enough to let me know I don't own any game I buy on here but I am cool with that although in the case of this and Bioshock users should be refunded cuz neither was out very long at all but I know that's not gonna happen and actually we may not entitled to any refunds with either. Waiting on someone to do it and see if they get the actual refund.
Since I am on an iPhone 5S with a dying battery, I think I may try to find a retailer selling a new iPhone 6 with iOS 8.4 still on it. If I can, I'll upgrade and refrain from updating my iOS for the foreseeable future. Newer battery will be nice to have for monster hunting!
MH: Dynamic Hunting never got fixed to work on iOS 8, so I'm not expecting this one to get fixed for iOS 9. It seems the only games that developers keep working through iOS version updates are games that are generating revenue through IAP consumables. Games like Clash of Clans have updates ready to go the day each new iOS version is released, but premium titles that aren't raking in the IAP cash are often left to rot. I used to see iOS as my main gaming platform, but now I just see it as the platform for freemium social games. It's just not a healthy environment for premium "core" or "traditional" gaming. I've moved back to console gaming as my primary platform and can't say I'm too torn up over it. Don't get me wrong. There are still some wonderful gems on iOS and I don't think that will ever stop. I just don't see it as the viable "primary" gaming platform that I was hoping it would eventually grow to be. Not any more.
Are you sure about that? Because even if I think it's kind of crappy that a company essentially has held its own software "hostage" (in which case, like you say, we're the ones who lose), I'd be glad if a major name actually took a stance and forced Apple to re-evaluate their update practices. Hopefully MHFU and BioShock turn out to be the straw that breaks the collective camel's back and causes some changes in how Apple approaches gaming (which, among the rest of their media services - ebooks, movies, music - is arguably the biggest loser whenever a new update rolls around).
Good plan I'm on 5s too and about ready to change too but like you I think going in reverse would be better. Because neither game is broke on an older os.
I have been total iOS gaming for two years now with no console and yesterday I played the new FIFA on Xbox one and realized I'm gaming wrong and need to go back to my roots of console gaming and this shit is part of the reason why. We can't trust the people putting out these games and it's not the indies it's the big names. If this game was put out by an indie dev who went broke I could actually understand but a company w tons of money I can't accept it and it's wrong big time! Back to the console for me starting next year and I almost want to regret spending the bunches of money I have on premium games cuz I don't do the FTP gimmick but it looks like that's the only people iOS gaming is for and so I'm gonna have to take a leave of absence from This crap.
And to those blaming Apple you need a labotomy! Seriously if an indie dev can keep updating his game there is no excuse. I know lots of games that were ready for every new Os that drops. There is no excuse it falls solely on the game developer and company not Apple sorry I know it's easy to blame them but it's wrong and they do not make and maintain the games and there is no excuse when others have fixed their games i.e. When square finally fixed TWEWY... They didn't have to fix it but they did. Capcom however has chose to not even fix one of their most popular games and that's a failure but Capcom will pay for that in lost revenue in the future or at least I hope they do and they want get jack from me ever again I don't care what game they make!
