Yeah... Diablos is actually one of the monsters i hate fighting, especially when im using weapons other than Hammers, GS, Lances or HBGs.
Im actually really struggling with this one. Staying alive isnt a problem, but Im not putting out enough damage. In my most recent attempt I just got the 10 minute left warning and I hadnt even killed one of them yet. Any suggestions for a quick kill or tactic to use?
Cheapest tactic is using pellet shots with HBG while equipping an armor with Pellet+ armor. Tactic can be seen in my lock-on tutorial video below (although it wont be as fast as im using G-Rank equips to slay high rank diablos here). The pellet shots actually automatically home-in on the diablos's weak spot which is the tail (or the tail stub if you managed to cut it using other weapon classes) which makes HBG most effective on Diablos. If you watch the video, take note of the timing when i do the 2 rolls when he burrows. For GS (which i believe is your main), you'll have to take advantage of the opening to hit his tail when he unburrows. Just snipe the tail. Dont attempt Lv3 charges. You can do some leg snipes to trip him, and you'll have to be quick to take advantage of the Lv3 charge opening to the tail. If you really want to to Lv3 charges (not recommended though), you can charge close to the base of his tail from behind and underneath him, where you will be very close but still force him to turn twice, you should be able to hit his belly part.
Question... What's you favorite monsters to hunt? Mine's Akantor. Not too difficult, but can be a challenge. I love hunting him down with any weapon type, but im strongest against him with a hammer and a GS. I already have all his weapons and armors, but i still hunt him everytime i get a chance. If it's not Akantor, it's Narga (to a lesser extent).
I still can't get Akantor materials. Can't solo him at all. His random flame shot ohko me and I'm really unlucky. I run and it still hits me. Narga is definitely my favorite. Probably the monster I've faced the most to get the two Narga sets + sword.
My faves are 1. Rathalos/all variant The easiest of them all, but still looks very cool 2. Rajang, child of destruction version One of the hardest monster, he even got the super saiyan 2 rage mode, but the feeling after beating him is incredible! 3. Fatalis Landing a level 3 charge on his face with the right timming is really satisfying~ The rest are: Narga, Kushala, and Teo/luna
Yeah... I think we can all agree that narga is of fair difficulty yet offers a very satisfying fight and eack kill feels great. His weapons and armors are also pretty useful, and the g-rank weapons are actually some of the best in terms of DPS due to the high affinity and innate purple sharpness.
Buddy you weren't kidding when you said it would take longer. I had to take a full set of pellet 2, full stacks of the items to make more pellet 2, and took like 40 minutes to kill both. It was still pretty tough for me, I got hit a few times which hurts in gunner armor. Bottom line though is I did win, and I appreciate the advice. Do bows ever get really strong or are they always going to feel so underpowered?
Bows are pretty average all around. The damage is based on your distance from the monster, and the type of charged shots you use. If you cant distance yourself weel or use the appropriate shot types against the monsters or their specific parts, then bows would easily feel underpowered. That said, they are still one of the safest weapon class. If you know your way to avoid damage when using melee weapons, avoiding damage with bows can be very easy. Bows have their moments of greatness though. Specifically the Rajang and the Fatalis fights. It is great against plesioth too, but i'd say HBG is much easier cozof the damage output. Bows are also great against Gravios, utilising his pierce shots into grav 's belly where the true weakness lies underneath that rocky exterior. Bows are also the only class that can break all partsof Lao Shan Lung when going solo, and Bows murder Shen Gaoren while not being hit at all.
Couldn't kill Shen, but I stalled him enough with my hammer to win the urgent quest, and also beat hypnocatrice, time to upgrade weapons I think if I can. I am finally past the old lady quests though! I skipped a few of her quests I might go back to, and I think I should start looking at new armours too. Not really sure what I should focus on next, but progress seems to be good
Since you've done most of the elder quest, do the cat elder next (he stands beside the old lady). It should give you access to high rank equips without getting too difficult.
^Touche! Wait... Why are you using elemental GS? Damage output is generally bigger with pure raw GS Reasons why: Elemental damage is never affected by crits (not in Unite) Elemental damage is not affected by the GS charge multiplier (not in Unite) Elemental damage being a fixed amount of damage (ignores defense) is much better when using fast weapons. GS is slooooooow. Coz of these reasons, a 1000 raw GS is much better than a 500 raw + 600 elemental, based on thedamage formula.
I dunno, I have a water blade, and a thunder blade just cause. I do have a raw blade that is waiting for an upgrade to chrome blade or something
