Thanks for the advice! I believe I can only use the normal sword since it's training session. I find it hard to take the healing med as the time to take is enough for the monster to charge and attack me again. So I feel stupid when I was running around in circle avoiding the monster haha. And in shock when I climb up a higher ground thinking I'm safe then it jumps up! That is fun though.. Still struggling to coordinate the roll, turn and hack, and run off rhythm. oh can the names of the monsters that is currently within view appear on screen or anywhere else? So can identify. In beginner trainings there are already more than one animal/ monster that appear but i can't find their names
Re the event Fatalis quests at hr9, are they like the other elder dragons where if you fail the quest, the damage you did previously stays? Or is it reset?
Actually, on the elder dragon quests, you don't fail the quest when they fled.. That quest is cleared, and you'll get rewards.. If fatalis fled, then the quest is cleared, and the damage you did previously stays..
Yup... In HR9 Fatalis the damage persists. On average it take 3 encounters to kill a Fatalis. Black takes 2 if you get lucky. In the DLC Fatalis, you need to kill them in one encounter or you fail the mission. They do have lower health than the HR9 versions.
Hello all! So I received quite a few iTunes giftcards for Xmas this year and Monster Hunter Freedom United was one of the first games I got with em. Not only is this my first time playing this particular game, but this is the first ever monster Hunter game I've ever played. The series has always seemed interesting and I've been told that this is a great entry to the series and a good one to introduce you to the monster Hunter games. So I was wondering if anyone had any tips for a new Hunter? Thanks in advance!
In the menu you'll find an option for "reference". It has a list of monsters and a little info on each. The list is not complete, though, and you'll have to purchase all of the info books from the general goods vendor to fill it out. That's what I used to get all the names straight. Really, though, you'll learn most of the names naturally over time by just playing. All I was a little lost on after a while was some of the herbivore names and which type of raptor was which (gia/gen/veloci/etc.).
Don't feel stupid, running around to avoid getting hit is half the fight! Hehe. That's why they give you so much time to kill the beasts. Even when you fight the monsters one on one in an arena setting (just one big open zone), you still get 20 mins to take it down because you spend most of the fight running, rolling, and waiting for the right opportunities to attack, drink potions, sharpen your weapon, lay traps, etc. In the gallery (on the title menu) you can see a couple of promo videos for previous versions of the game. If you watch them, you'll notice a common factor: the main characters in the videos begin their encounters with the big monsters by running their assess off before they find the right moment to turn around and fight, lol.
Just a little help on monsters for beginners RAPTORS: White= giaprey Blue= velociprey Yellow= genprey Red= ioprey Boss version = (prefix)drome General HERBIVORES Long neck dinosaurs= aptonoth Big hairy tusk-things= popo Deer with big antlers= anteka Deer with small horns= kelbi Turtle dinosaurs in desert= apceros I can't be bothered writing the rest, but that should at least get you started on the insignificant monsters. The big monsters are unique enough that you should remember their names.
Thanks for the info. Is it important to know the names and characteristics of specific monsters in this game? It seems like the battle mechanics for fighting monsters in this game are a lot more in depth than other games where it's just attack, run away, heal, reapeat.
1. Forget all instincts you gained from playing other action RPGs. 2. Learn how monsters attack and then you counterattack. 3. Avoid going rambo. Hit once or twice with your weapon, then move out. 4. Have fun! 5. Dont forget that there's a world outside.
For some of those mentioned, not really. The bigger boss monsters though, the fights become more indepth. There are blindspots to take advantage of, elemental weaknesses, using the environment, use of traps, grenades and bombs, hit locations (monsters take different amounts of damage depending on which part you are attacking. Some parts can get broken or cut off), healing or buffing requires strategy to pull off safely, positioning, and a lot more. Not to mention all the things you can do outside of combat. Crafting weapons, armors, ammo, consumables, and other stuff. Fishing, mining, foraging, farming, cooking, barbecueing, and even collecting poop! There's also you cat friends. You have a kitchen you can use to cook and eat food for buffs, you can let your cat friends cook for you, and you can bring them into missions with you and they help you out in ways based off their training. Also, each of these things mentioned have their own stats, percentages and mechanics. Yup... In-depth is pretty common in the world of MH.
So it's the same for both the event and non event fatalis quests i presume. Ayt thanks man! I'll try to at least repel it again. I'm doing the black Fatalis event quest since according to the internets, he's the "easiest" of the 3 but looking at all my fails against him, still a b*tch though lol
Nope. Event Quests are the DLC quests i mentioned in my previous post. All the Event Quests need to be completed in one run, so you have to kill them, and that includes the fatalis trio event quests. There's no repels. Thankfully they have lesser health as well (only the fatalis and the elder dragon event quests).
Ayt got it. Guess i need to upgrade my weapon to kill him though. I failed the quest multiple times already due to running out of time even while using a ton of large barrel + and bounce bombs, mega demon drinks, power seeds, etc. I can even go at him without getting hit not once. Time to farm hr9 akantor event quest or maybe reach the Ukanlos fight and farm him. My midnight bow doesn't seem to cut it against Fatalis.
Yup... Akantor Bow is a must-have anyways, so farming it now is a good idea. I can help you farm akantor and ukanlos, but im pretty swamped with work today. tomorrow maybe?
I'll try man since I need help anyways. But wifi at work is kinda weak and I won't be going home til saturday
If you need some heavy bow support then I volunteer as tribute! However, there is a catch! ... ... ... ... ... ... I'm only HR 4.
