armor stats like capacity up, short charge, evade distance, evade plus work well. personally, i'm still farming the G narga to get the evade distance and evade+ armor set (the elusive heavenly scale) which compliments my play style ie. assume everything is OHKO, so avoid getting hit as much as possible lol
At HR 1 I wouldn't worry about armor. You won't get that 1 rare item to complete the set until you get to the 3 star level at HR2 or 3 star village elder. Green Plesioth armor is nice with Stamina. Later a combo of Cenautar and Rathalos armor for PierceUp and Attack up is nice, as is Kirin armor for element up and auto tracker. I find for taller monsters I use the manual aim a lot to aim for the body rather than legs like Diablos. Other lower monsters I just hip fire. Although manual aim causes you to pause when you want to move so turn it on and off as the situation warrants. Anyway that is what I have found out playing. Currently 1st level of nekoht and HR3 almost to 4. Have pretty much done solo because of time constraints (kids) but some day hope to get online more.
Try shooting Diablos (and monoblos and their color variants) in the tail. That's their shot damage weakpoint. The biggest openings are when they popup from underground when they burrow and dig past you.
Well I'm now HR 2, and I bought the battle armor, although it's pretty bad. I'd get the green plesioth armor if anyone was actually willing to farm him, which they aren't
Tell me when you want to have a round I don't know what missions I need to level up though so I expect you to start them
I dont remember them either. LOL. let's just room up and keep doing missions on your rank. If you want we can rush them... Shouldnt take more than a few hits to kill low rank monters. Create a room?
I'm sorry, I was eating too :/ I think we'll have to do this another day, but I appreciate your effort
If you're gonna play MP post it in the tavern thread. Not for organization but because most people are only subbed to that thread and not to this one.
I've finished all the tutorials currently scalable and started the actual quests last night. I took down my first giadrome, or however it's spelled. I forgot how unforgiving this game was! But I'm loving it! Once I get better and get some better gear than the starting stuff, I might try some online hunting. I only played the MH Wii game, and only made it to hunter rank 4 (I think), so I'm still a big noob, lol. Does anyone play this with an mfi controller? Any recommendations on a good one?
Good point, I'll head over there Wow, I didn't have the patience to do all the training quests I played MHTri on the Wii, so it's not too hard to pick up. We should play sometime!
LOL! I'm such a goob! I didn't realize the village granny had quests. I've been doing the quests in the gathering hall, which were considerably harder than what granny starts you out on, haha. Just crafted my first item, iron katana. Almost have the stuff needed to improve it already, too.

Sigh, I still don't know what armor to make! I'm considering anything up to Tigrex. I just don't know what to do haha I'd preferably like short charge, being able to run and charge for longer, or to evade (since gunner armor suuuuuuuucks)
The best gunner armors are the ones that increase survivability since you can get one-shotted by the monsters. So go for evade skills and earplugs skills. The next priorities can be utility skills like short charge for bows, or reload spd or ammo up for bowguns... Damage skills are always good when you are confident with your survival already.
To be honest im a melee user most of the time, so when i start using ranged weapons imusually at high or g-rank already. One thing's for sure though, one of the best early armors for either blademaster or gunner is the Garuga set. Before that though, i dont have answers for the gunner sets.
