If I did, it was definitely a joint online quest not of my choosing. I sent the cat on the boat out a few times for the fire wyvrn fluid though. I read Khezu is weak against fire and needed something better than my current HH. My armor is as old as dirt though. Would you recommend the Khezu armor or should I aim for something else instead?

Tigrex armor is way better... I defeat tigrex using GS at low rank and keep farming for his full armor set..

    First of all congrats!

As a fellow HH user, I have worn the Khezu armor and it was great but I moved on to something else (Yian Garuga and then Kirin) before taking on the Tigrex.
I think it's up to you: if you can't avoid taking hits then IMHO it's mostly a matter of how much you've upgraded your armor set, if you can dodge the hits then it's only a matter of what armor skills you like best. All in all, if you like how the Khezu armor set looks, go for it.

    EDIT:
Oh and if you need to farm the Khezu, find a few helpful hunters and do it online with your hunting horn: no need to switch weapon then :p

    Guess what? Classified.
    Classified.
    Woahwoahwoahwoah. Hold up a sec.
    Tigrex isn't just a big step as a hunter, it's a leap.

Curtis, as almost all hunters, should definitely get some new armor to even the odds against tigrex and other monsters.

I would recommend garuga (with mask) or ceanataur armor, but it's really up to you.

FYI, khezu armor makes you look like an assassin from AC

Yeah, I saw the hood... Almost reason enough to get it, whether I should or not!

And, I can't imagine soloing a Tigrex yet. I'd love some Tigrex armor, but don't know if I'll have enough time to get it alone. I'd definitely have to do that one online with some helpers!

Other than new armor, I'd really love to upgrade one of my HH. The next milestones are Blessed Ocarina or Bone Horn+. But they seem miles away. I guess I really should do some online farming in order to upgrade.

Hey guys, I'm glad to see this thread to be so active. I'm fairly new to Monster Hunter and have been enjoying freedom unite a whole lot. Got pretty decent hours in, totaling 22 right now. If I may ask, the khezu is my next goal/urgent quest. I'm currently looking to get a full set of KutKu armor. I'm wielding an Iron Katana Grace. I currently have the KutKu Mail, vambraces, and tasset. According to online resources, I must get a KutKu eat first to even see the option to build a cap and leggings. I have watched numerous videos, hacking at his head, using sonic bomb and trapping him, but I have not succeeded in obtaining a single ear. I have been attacking the Yain KutKu in the elder quest, lvl 2. Would there be an easier way of obtaining the ears, do I need to go to another quest to get it? Also, I've read that the KutKu armor is a good one to start out with, but I do like the way the conga and the cephalos armor look. What do you guys think for a beginner's armor, and especially especially for Khezu right now? Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Unfortunately, I can't really help with the first part of your question. But, I am still rather a newbie and I've put in over 50 hours! I just beat the Khezu with my second armor. So, I'm sure it can be done with your armor. I just made sure I got a weapon with fire attack to get him. And getting enough for that took a while.

That... actually works. Maybe I was thinking that. I know in Japan they use Nyan and here they use Meow. Heck I guess it fits no matter what eh? lol

Thanks for all the compliments you guys. You have spurned me to create another piece :)

@Curtis: The Khezu kill is probably the first strong monster you will face and presents a leap in difficulty from how the Kutku was. So good job. I remember by frustrations as I also used the same weapon and am a long sword user. Congrats! Though Tigrex is still my most hated monster. I can pretty much destroy Tigrex 1v1 with my better weapons now but if I went back to the old set he'd probably kick my tail (mostly). I've had to kill him about 20 times in order to learn his moves. And I can still get beat. Don't underestimate him. Tigrex made me want to quit MHFU lol.

My first set (minus the pants because I didn't like them) was the Khezu armor and it's a great armor. Has some great basic abilities. As for his ears I can't even remember doing anything special. I would say to keep scarring his head until it's scratched up but I can't even remember if that's correct. Maybe you haven't been doing enough damage to his head?

I really like the Khezu armor but it's somewhat useless for people without block. I wore it for over a dozen hunts because it looked cool :)

Sonic bombs have a 10% chance of an ear and cutting off his ears are a 50% of an ear. Honestly I wouldn't make red kut ku armor, the blue one seems a better for melee users and needs the same ears.

I love how old and new players are working together here.

That being said, i'd love to help anyone out. I've got quite some time on my hands for the next few days. I'm currently using the diablos hammer and the ceanataur armor. Yes yes, low rank. I could have hit high rank for some time now, but i wasn't very commited. Had a ton of new games to play.

    Hey guys,
First of all thanks for the help and to everyone proposing help.
I have a question as a newbie, is it important to have every piece of an armor set? I kinda just have them mixed because i Often find Things that fit me better but i don't always change the whole set.
Maybe i missed this somewhere so sorry if it is a stupid question.

    Greetings!

Using full armor sets will always give you skills (positive and negative), while with mixing set pieces you can end up without any active skill, but if done right, you can build custom sets with the skills you want without the negative ones.
I would stick with full sets in low rank / high rank, and try customs in g rank, thanks to more choice of decorations and generally more slots.

Just buy the battle armor blade master set from the cat early game. Attack up and fast sword sharping is pretty good. And you can get health up with gems. That set last me until I got to tigerx. The only real problem is lightning damage monsters, namely kezu. A light blowgun with flame shots and the gunner battle armor set, which doesn't have lightning weakness, kills kezu pretty easy.

By the time you need new armor you should have an understanding of how the game works.

Thanks! I'm sorry about the stupid question, but red and blue KutKu? So the parts I'm harvesting from yian KutKu from lvl 2 elder quest is yielding red armor? If so, where or from whom do I get the blue armor? I totally understand if you ask me to check online #

Well here is the link but I'll tell you as well. http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Elder_Quest_List:_MHF2
Blue kut ku is a level 3 elder quest. Blue kut ku is supposed to be harder than the pink kut ku but I don't really notice any difference. That link also tells you which quest you need to progress. There are a lot of annoying quest you can avoid

However like I said the battle armor set you can buy from the cat which is a pretty good set. It lasted me until I farmed yian Garuda at level 4. Who is the next step up from blue kut ku. Honestly farming armor is most grindy part of the game so I avoid it when possible.

^Please refrain from using "levels" coz there arent any in the game. MHFU is confusing enough for new players that using terms outside of the game itself isnt going to help. :)

And why do you avoid farming armor, as that is what makes this game a lot more awesome.
