The thing is by the time you make a 3 hit combo you can probably land a lvl 3 charge which will hit for a lot more damage. Especially when you have AOU

Yup, but then you have to roll and sheathe with a GS when an LS can do either another attack through a backhop, or roll, re-orient facing, and backhop for an additional hit, which already makes you deal slightly bigger damage than the GS.

No kidding, your knowledge about MH is impressive. I still stumble over some wrong facts sometimes, but your posts always make sense. And yeah, I couldn't have said it better. You only might add "or launch a spirit combo".
That works good with all that big crabs and lobsters, after scoring a normal 3-hit-combo at the legs of a ceanataur, when it turns around to face you, I immediately launch a spirit combo in his face and then take a forwards roll or a roll to the side and rarely get hit with that, because you can roll between its legs and escape behind him or take more swings at the legs/claws.

When you bring all these to an equation LSdoing 4 hits gets it to % 111 of it's weapon power while GS landed a single hit %110 Lvl 3 charge and when you add AOU to that you get %137.5 of your weapon power. And while using GS your one hit probably gonna land on the weak spot where with LS youre not gonna hit there with every hit. There is also sharpening youre LS is gonna need more sharpening than a GS wasting more time. I'm not that good with damage calculator so if I'm wrong please fix it. I just have a hard time believing LS being faster than GS.

Equations are moot in terms of speedkills. They give you an idea as to how much you deal damage per hit, but not how fast you can kill the monster coz there are so many factors to consider. You're basically counting the amount of damage you can deal with LS's 4 hits compared to the GS's Lv3 charge. You have to factor in WHEN you can do these attacks.

Best way to prove this is to see how fast you can kill monsters once you've mastered these weapons. The only monster i can really say can easily be done faster with a GS may be Rajang.

I main GS and thought it was second to Hammers for the longest time too, until i've learned how to properly use the LS.

Nice one! Glad I'm not the only one taking screen caps of this game! Where is that at? I wanna get one from there. I might have to upgrade some gear before I tackle it though...

Thanks! Jungle I believe? The map with the beach to the north. I'm sure you passed by this area but you never look at certain spots because you're always fighting. This is inside the main cave in the middle of the map. It's easy to spot. I do love how gorgeous the scenery is in this game. So much work put into it! Put that in with sun glare, birds flying by, stars falling, game is near perfect with the environment.

Thank you! Yes it is. It's my favorite armor by far. I'm trying to make the new version from G rank but that one is WAAAAY harder to make. I notice it needs a lot of heavenly scales + random rare monster items like "monster essence"... ugh... poisioning vespoids is probably my #1 or #2 worst thing to do in this game. I don't have a poison weapon either so I have to make dozens of bombs.

I'm also using the narga sword. I just realized the narga items are my favorites. The long sword is so damn cool I don't want to bother touching anything else anymore!

Ok, I'll try using LS and see how good it is. Any tips for a new LS user?
Would C. Blango Destructor be enough for most monsters or should I make some elemental weapons as well?

    Guess what? Classified.
    Classified.
Lol if I had to think of one downside of this game it's that you don't appreciate the scenery as much because of the intense action to be had :p

A Blango Destructor is fine, but I'd advice you to farm 4 different LS as soon as possible. As soon as you meet monsters based on the ice element, your Blango LS is as useful as a tooth pick. ;)

Each LS type has one or more branches, you should check out the LS weapon trees (just google them).

In the beginning, I'd suggest to craft a fire elemental, thunder elemental, ice elemental and a raw weapon. Work towards the Eager Cleaver (thunder), the Wyvern Blade Fall (fire), the Blango Decimator/Destructor (ice) and a raw damage weapon, maybe from the scythe branch. That would make you well prepared for the most encounters up to the 5-star village quests.

Let's just not forget that this is a game, not science. I never was really into all that number fumbling. Every player also has 1-2 preferred weapon types, and s/he would defend the greatness until death. ;)

You got it all wrong man I meant C. Blango Destructor its the most powerful raw LS in the game.

Yeah I don't really care about it either but I always thought that so its hard to change my opinion on it.

Yup C Blango Destructor is the most consistent raw LS, followed by Akantor LS, but the latter will give you headaches if you arent hitting weakpoints.

Both of these are also enough to defeat each monster in the game (except Basarios and Gravios when using Akantor LS), but you'll need elemental LS on specific monsters to kill them faster.

Oh, and Akantor LS is probably the best looking LS in the entire game. :D

    Well, there's THIS.

Or if you meant any other MH titles, then yeah, i guess it's a possibility. Wouldnt get my hopes up, but i'll be pretty excited if it does happen.

I dont remember if MHP3 was officially released outside of Japan though, so there's that. Maybe they'd consider porting in some of the Wii titles :D

After I killed Akantor the LS didn't appear in my shop. I must be missing something.. But how can it possibly look better than the Hidden Saber? That weapon is so cool that it gets another blade a full charge

No wonder you like it... since you're a GS user. I would love to have that. Though for some reason bigger swords like the Tigrex sword make me feel slower just because they look bigger. And often block my view :p Akantor battle is still too hard for me apparently. I don't see it LS or any of its armor available in my shops either sadly.
