Has anyone managed to get past Khezu yet? I can't even seem to damage the nasty thing, and I run out of hot drinks before he even reacts to me hurting him.
Sounds like you're using a blade or a blunt weapon - the Khezu has a soft, moist skin which makes the weapons bounce of, so the blades need to be sharp as heck to penetrate it. Sharpen, sharpen, sharpen! Some fire-based weapon works even better, this is a Khezu's main weakness. The better way is to use piercing stuff. Maybe you should refer to the quick guide how to defeat a Khezu I left a few pages before.
Use fire on khezu. Taking him down is pretty hard, took me a couple of tries before i got him. Also, you can use a ranged weapon then shoot him from the top ledge near the cave in area 1 (if he goes there). That can take out a hunk of his hp, or maybe even bring him down
I'm using dual blades, the lowest tier kut-ku fans, specifically. It's really frustrating because I know I could bring him down easy if I had access to blades with green sharpness that lasted more than a couple slashes. I'm not a newbie to Monster Hunter, either.
Khezu's really easy with Duals on low rank. His weakness is the neck, but since it's tricky to hit those easily, we aim for his legs instead, for the reason that the legs have low stagger limits. Meaning, he'll trip a lot which makes hitting his neck a bit easier. Since you have yellow sharpness weapon, time it so you use the full demon dance combo on the legs safely. It is ok to never attack him while he is in rage mode. As long as time isnt used too much on healing and running around, you should be able to kill him with Kut Ku blades without bothering too much while he is in rage mode. As long as you know not to get greedy and get out before his next attack, you should be safe. (This is the general rule for all monsters ) One thing you cant avoid without the proper equips, is his scream combos. Without High Grade Earplugs, and especially while he is in rage mode, he will stun you with a scream, and will attack you while you are vulnerable. Try to bring juices with you. Power Juice is Rare Steak+Catalyst, and Mega Juice is, well, forget mega juice for now as you get the power extract from Gypceros which i think you still wont have at that point. Shock traps also help a lot. I'll see if i can make a video today if the baby gets to sleep soon. Im currently on baby duty so all i can do is check out the forums.
Yeah, correct, but he needs green for that. Low-tier DS tend to make not really significant damage. You're just chipping him away slowly with that.
Ohhh man, another Khezu problem :S With the ledge trick I've been able to now beat him 100% of the time with almost no armor. However, once I have to face him without a ledge, I'm not too sure how I can defend against his electric barrier. I just fought the poison wyvern who is a bit later and he was waaay easier (but not easy - died 2 times) than the Khezu. I would probably upgrade those duals so they go into green. I think unless you're a pro, aiming at specific spots that move isn't too easy so you'll end up bouncing a lot. I bounced so much that I gave up on using my sword and went for the bow as Vovin suggested I actually picked duals for the first 1-2 hours of playing after the sns but turns out they are extremely high maintenance, especially in terms of sharpness so I decided that wasn't a good route for me.
The problem is that there aren't materials I have access to that give me DS with more than a sliver of green sharpness. And I've been playing with DS since is tarted MH3U, and I'm in high rank on that, so I know what I'm doing with those.
No worries. Was able to make the exact weapon he used and still have my shop-bought armor to make the video. I've just recorded a video, and im currently compiling. Let's hope the video looks decent, and uploading to youtube doesnt take too long.
I used Kut Ku blades in the video... Just yellow sharpness. Was able to down Khezu in just a little over 10 mins.
^Thanks... but i know a lot of people much better than i am, especially with Duals I hope that helps you guys out against Khezu... Also, let me know if you guys need help with other monsters as well. I kinda like making these videos, but i gotta try figure out the sound glitch when compiling. Speaking of helping out, has anyone figured out how to create multiplayer games with friends?
