Both are probably worth it. Just comes down to what hardware you have, and whether you want to live a story under water or endlessly quest for items and hunts to obtain gear to go on bigger hunts. I'd pick MHFU over Bioshock any day just because the atmosphere and controls are spot on!
Thanks. It's final monster Ukanlos, I hope you'll take him too someday. Thanks, I've watched your Fatalis and GS video and I'm gonna go after him.
This game is really hard but it's SO satisfying when you finally take down a group of monster. Amazing game Capcom 5/5
Agreed. This game feels like a much better optimization job than Bioshock, since MHFU has great controls and Bioshocks sound like they need some work. Though ideally I'd get both.
I showed all my friends from out of state the MHFU on iOS (all big MH 3ds fans) and they were literally shocked how good the controls AND graphics were. They showed me that the MH3U had worse graphics on the 3ds which is kinda true. The liked the fluidity of the controls and the slide motions for the attacks. They were also going crazy seeing how that gigantic game is being played on an ipod touch with no lag or anything. Btw I went to play the advanced monster fight in MH4U "The Gore" something and apparently no one at PAX has beaten him. He was a beast. My first time everyone in my team died. 2nd try we ran out of time. You only have 15 minutes to kill him and he's wicked. I did cut off his tail so I can brag about that
Finally got my Devil Slicer! Been a good few days for me. Killed Tigrex, branched out (weapon-wise) and got pretty decent with Hammers, and got an upgrade to a beloved longsword I've been killing almost everything with.
Nice! Hammer/longsword combo is good as you have two different weapons for different tasks (slow, powerful, crushing hammer/fast, agile, cutting longsword)!
Thanks Duivs, I'm really starting to like Hammers. Since I've gotten the Devil Slicer I'm working on finding some Union Ore for upgrading my Hammer...it will be my first +1k damage weapon.
Don't forget to go back and mush some old monsters to get some mats you couldn't before! (Eg blood red horn)
There's a new update. I haven't updated once yet since people were reporting problems so no new notification for me but noticed that the app went from version 1.00.03 to 1.00.04. Hopefully it fixed those crashes. I'm eagerly awaiting the results.
I just installed the new update and quickly tested the Lunastra quest, and it is working fine now where it was crashing before.
I'm looking to get this game soon, but I want to know if I can still have a lot of fun without playing multiplayer. And is this game based around multiplayer or can I just jump into someone's game and it will be the same as single player but with a friend? And is this port all in English?
You will be playing singleplayer most of the time anyway. I myself can't use multiplayer due to restrictions (school iPad), and i get by just fine. You can beat any monster solo, however it will just be a bit harder.
MHFU was very popular back on the PSP even without online functionality and only local adhoc multiplayer, and not everyone has friends to play it with. Still, its popularity made it one of the best games ever released on the PSP, and even when compared to other platforms, proof that multiplayer isnt all that needed to enjoy the game. Multiplayer does add a bit of fun obviously, but having no access to it doesnt drop this game's accessibility and fun at all. If you want to just have a feel of how multiplayer works without access to it, to a minimal extent, you have Cat Warrior companions you can take with you during the quests. Yes, multiplayer is just the same as singleplayer, with a friend/s (up to 3) to replace the cats you can bring with you. The original JP version is titled Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, and has been re-titled and translated 100% into Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
