I hate that guy so much. Not only does he run half the time but he has the widest tail spin of all the monsters I've fought. Even with my favorite armor that gives me extra roll damage, 1 roll away from him is not far enough to dodge his tail. He's so cheap because he's so freakin big. I replayed him recently with my better gear and he was still difficult.

Check out this video. Fighting the Tigrex is all about movement and timing. You don't even need to circle him constantly. If you're good, he will rarely hit you, so you need no brutal armor (tho a good armor helps alot in case he hits you). It's important to keep a little distance (because of his "roundhouse bite"), but you're basically running to the right side and wait between the legs. As soon as he turns, hit him and dodge, then again to the right side. Please note what the guy later did, he lured the Tigrex into a wall where the Tigrex got stuck with his teeth. With the correct timing, you can reproduce that and beat the crap out of him when he's hanging helpless there.

Tigrex seems a pretty hard one first, but as soon as you're used to his moves, he's not as difficult as you might have thought.

^Awesome video. I had a chance to chat with an akantorex back on the PSP days, but im not sure if he's the same one since i've seen the name used a few times in different sites/forums.

Unfortunately, with timing alone, you wont be able to do half of what he does in the video without Fast Charge. You cant land Lv3 charges to the face on a double bite or a tail spin while he's in rage more, and there's no way you can keep Tigrex in place in large areas. This is done in a custom quest inside the arena. That's not the DLC HR9 Tiggy coz i dont believe that tigrex flinches in one Lv3 GS charge alone.

That's a pretty pro video right there... Great timing, great positioning.

Yeah, of course that guy has the equipment to bring him down fast. But yeah, that guy always chooses a special position to stand and executes well timed hits. Needs a lot of training, but is doable eventually. I managed to do that circling fight with my beloved LS and mostly scored 2-3 hits before Tigrex moved away and I had to run after him. I also got hit more than that guy in the video. You're right, that works better in smaller spaces.
I just wanted to cheer up cooltea and show him, that Tigrex isn't the ultimate evil, even if it is a tricky beast. I hate that roundhouse bite.
Oh, and earplugs are a must. Yian Garuga set provides it.

Finally beat him. I knew it was just going to be a matter of time. I'm using an Eager Cleaver LS and full Ceanataur set.

Is fast charge good for hammer users? I mostly superpound, so I'm thinking it over.
What's a good set for it?

For tigrex not really. His roar has a very small radius, 2 rolls away and you're safe. Slow movement weapons have block, and faster movement weapons have enough time to distance from roars. You'll only get tagged by his roars if you play a little greedy.

I'd suggest sharpness +1, HGE, sharp sword or reckless abandon before focus.

Yes, true. But Tigrex has nice openings while roaring. :)

Thanks for that. Vidi is done, I now need to veni vici.

Are Earplug fine or are High grade earplug required? I think I've read that without the high grade version, Tigrex's roar at close proximity will still hurt, is that right?

Just earplugs will protect you from his roar stun, but if you're too close, his roar has an attack ina small radius around his head that will still hit you.

This is why i dont recommend earplugs for tigrex, unless you're hitting him on the legs or the tail, which isnt as effective as hitting the head. You still have to move about half a roll away from his head even if you have earplugs, or get hit by the roar attack.

Rajang also has this additional "attack" when he roars.

If you really want to hit him during the roar, use evade+ skills instead.

On the contrary- everyplace is a place for psychology as it relates to all of us at any given time. Minus death.
I believe that deep down, we are ALL in fact a 'little greedy'.
This is because we have a natural inbuilt instinct to compete with and dominate other people. We try to achieve this in small ways, often without even thinking- and even when we think we aren't being greedy at all.
Take giving food to a friend as an example- you may break off a third of your cookie and give it to them. That was very nice of you, but if you would compare your piece with their piece, you would find your piece is in fact larger. Why? Because it's your cookie. Not your friends.
Subconsciously, you really wanted to eat that cookie, so you didn't spare half, or more, of your capitalism-inspiring cookie to your friend, because you are greedy. A greedy person that may very well become obese because you didn't share your food equally with others...

I have a feeling my speech may have gone slightly off track.

Oh well, I hope you've enjoyed today's unnecessary PSYCHOLOGY LESSON OF WONDER

Speaking of being a lil greedy, I think I'm going to try him again with a slightly different (hopefully more experienced) strategy...

They are totally different games, but since you're only asking that, then yes, totally worth the asking price.

Well, if you say that you'll play this for 1.500 hours (you can put 2000+into it, easily) and wanna pay 1 ct per hour, then you have your 15 bucks. And a megaton of gaming bliss.
