Just keep killing him. The brown tails are pretty rare.

I don't get it...switched to an early ice-hammer now and I simply can't break his ears...don't know what I'm doing wrong...-.-

I had problems with this too (hammer user too). You can break them with the hammer, but the problem is breaking them before you accidentally kill him.

Basically all your hits need to be on his head. If you play smart and get every attack off on his head they should break by the time he starts limping.

Kut ku leaves many large windows for attack, because he is a sort of tutorial boss, but you could always use traps or flash bombs if you aren't confident in precisely hitting the head.

In case some people didn't know, breaking the beak and breaking the ears are two different things

I'm normally a LS-user and because that didn't work I switched to Hammers - like the move-set so it's not a big problem for me :)

Flash bombs won't send him to rage mode? Next time I'll leave my pesky cat at home btw...he keeps throwing bombs either hitting me or sending Kut Ku to rage mode...which means my window for breaking his ears keeps getting smaller and smaller...

Oh and thanks for your answer...guess I have to train that a few times now.

When trying to break parts or capturing - I leave my damage-dealer cat behind and bring my healer cat who only has Flute skills and Peaceful behavior. ;) Breaking ears is actually easy with the LS - just wait for Kutku to scratch the ground with his talons and thats the signal for his long non-attacking animation that leaves his head close to the ground. Or evade his fireball attack and whack away at the head again. Do not attack anything else.

Also, as Pscience prev. pointed out - dont do this on the early Guild quests as they very rarely or not at all give out the Ears. Do it on the Village Elder quest instead.

Thank you...yeah I left him at home now and also managed to break his ears...YES...but still...no Kut Ku Ears though.

Oh okay...I thought Village Elder Quests and the early Guild Quests are the same dropchance-wise!?

Yes, but the 1 and 2 star guild quests are way easier, and don't give out the rare mats.

I think this is so new people can't get good materials to make good stuff right off the bat.

Low rank Elder quests and low rank guild quests (excluding guild hall one and two star quests) have the same reward chances

Lance and Gunlance take no hp damage when blocking. I dont recall if SnS takes hp damage. Guard+ skills improve your stability when blocking, reduces damage taken, and the stamina used when blocking.

LOL search 'spore (boss monster)' in google images- people have made replicas!

    @EP
So if your a lance user with the guard + skill, as long as you guard everything you take zero damage?

As long as you have stamina to put your shield up (hint: juices), you wont lose hp. Guard+1/+2 guarantees you dont flinch as much so you can guard every attack thrown at you. And there's guard up that allows you to guard fart and beam attacks which you normally couldnt. ;)

I have tried playing online a few times but it's really difficult to talk in the room as it jumps you straight to the huge lobby or is that just me? I thought it might appear in a chat pane in the guildhall.

If a new room is created, so is a chat room just for that room.

You can also make a chat room just between you and another, or you and others

@GforceUK: the same thing happened to me once, but I think it was only the first time I used the in-app chat.
Then it is as Duivs described: you automatically join the chat room for the guild hall you are in.
You can then navigate the in-app chat rooms and have a one-to-one chat room with another player.

Finding back your current guild hall's chat room may not be obvious though: it is listed towards the top of the list of chat rooms (among some of the other chat rooms you were ever listed in).

Anyway good job with the bow! I failed the Yian Kut Ku training quest using a weapon different from the one I normally use.

Use ice weapons to kill him(his main weakness)and keep capturing him(capturing gives you a higher chance of getting a rare item).
