I think every monster is doable with every weapon type. And when it comes to bowguns if you have skills like auto reload and evade they can take down any monster with the right bullet. Also they make fighting with some monsters easier. I'd suggest watching some of Mazereon's videos on youtube. It helped a lot with bowguns.

Cool thanks man. And for directing me somewhere that's helpful. I was wondering if they were very specific to certain monsters only and you answered that.

Oh and my ratio is about 10 offline quests to every 1 online (just got into online recently) but I was astonished by the abilities of having a bow gun or bow user on the team. Really helpful paralyzing and whatnot. Basically just giving me more openings to hack n slash. It was sweet and with a good team, online is a blast. Might get into it more. I'm up to 7 star nehkot offline quests but only HR3 so goes to show.

Yeah Maze and VampireCosmonaut were THE bowguns. I dont think VC has a youtube channel though. Heavy Bowguns deal so much damage with the right bullets and the right targetting, that they are actually stronger than even hammers against certain monsters. Bowguns definitely can defeat any monster solo.

The only thing that one cant kill something solo is an SnS on Lao. I havent seen it done, and i have tried twice before (back on the PSP days) and just managed repels on both. Maybe someone can come up with a good strategy on taking Lao down to zero with an SnS.

Hey guys, I need some help! Can anyone give me tips on the 7-star urgent request? I think it's called Secret Request : 2 Monoblos. This quest is much more difficult than the grandma's Four Horns. I only managed to kill the regular Monoblos, but the white one just have a massive amount of health!

Can anyone suggest the best strategy for this quest? For your information, I'm a GS user, and won't accept any strategy with other weapon type :p .

    Maybe this might help?

Armor : Low rank Rathalos Soul
Skill : Attack up large, earplug
My prefered weapon : Khezu Shock Blade, Tactical Blade

Are you using sonic bombs? They should give a lot of free gs charges, and should cut killing time, and also in effect reduce the risk of getting hit.

Their weakness is the tail, and the tail stub after you've cut it, so definitely aim for those. Most obvious opening for unsheathed strikes would be right when a blos pops out from underground.

When blos is turning, time it that you dont get tripped when running in, and unsheathe strike in between the legs. If you have ran deep enough, you should be able to hit the base of the tail as he completes his second turn.

Not a lot of safe GS charge openings on blos, but your unsheathed strikes deal massive damage on their tails.

When are monsters hardcore? I know that they are stronger and have better move sets, but when do you actually encounter them, or what decides if the monster is hardcore or not?

Is it just chance or what?

Uh... Not sure what you mean by "hardcore"

There are only rage mode which regular boss monsters move faster and hit harder, and get certain immunities or new weaknesses when they receive enough damage; and then there are the special version (not the colored variant), like the one-horned diablos, the one-eared garuga, and the SSJ2 Rajang (not the official name, but his regular mode is already in rage mode, and he has a stronger, faster rage mode. Kinda like Rageception. :D).

I've heard of 'hardcore' bosses. These bosses have aesthetic differences (more muscle mass, bigger horns etc) and additional moves. I'm surprised you haven't heard of them EP. Google it.

The HC subtypes? I don't think it's in this game. It's in Tri I think

I've definitely seen people talking about harcore versions of monsters not in Tri, but also about other monsters not in mhfu. Maybe they are in mhfo?

Oh, I never used the sonic bomb. You just throw the sonic bomb at the Blos' face, right? Or is it that other bomb type?

Also, thanks for the tips! In all my Blos runs, I only charge attack after the Blos goes out from the underground, and only hit the belly, because its dangerous to go near the tail.

How did you beat cephadrome and plesioth? :O

When he digs you throw a sonic bomb where he was, and he will half come out of the ground, giving you a big window to attack. This does not work when he is in rage mode.

Hey EP I need your advice.
I love the hammers maneuvaribility and power, and I like getting one or two golf swings off after I KO something, but I'm actually considering switching to great sword.
I play offline basically all the time, and I need something I can rely on to get me through everything.

The hammers have been good so far, but are the great swords better?

Also, the main tactic is to get a lvl 3 charge on a monster when they are doing the double turn right?
And also just ignore everything except the charge button?

Don't forget that GS has Blocking capability, that let you block roars and wind.. Also, upward swing is pretty useful..

IMHO, GS are better than hammer.. With more coverage on overall enemies..

Is it effective/easy to cut tails?
The monster wouldn't be facing away from you by the time you charge up properly.

Edit: ok I'm going to start using great swords haha.
What armor should I get (I'm high rank), and what weapon should I get/work towards?

LOL! What I'm trying to say is "I never used sonic bombs at the 2 Monoblos quest". Never used sonic bombs at Cephadrome, though. All it takes to finish the Cephadrome quest are a lot of patient and luck. :D

Thanks for the correction! I still don't know the difference of sonic bomb and that-other-bomb-I-forgot-the-name bomb.
