This is incredible, I don't think anyone was expecting another Monster Hunter game, let alone one as vast and impressive as Freedom Unite, to make its way to iOS, but the fact that it did, and under the radar no less, just goes to show how unpredictable the App Store is! I never got a chance to play this on my PSP, so for me this is the very definition of an instabuy as soon as it becomes available worldwide, which I don't doubt will happen sooner or later (unlike NAMCO Bandai, Capcom doesn't have a track record for keeping their big-name franchises exclusive to Japan). Anxiously waiting!
It does and I'm pretty sure this will get an English release. When that'll be though, I have no idea.
A short video from the beginning of the game and the first mission https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhNsKq79mKI
Ppsspp controls are bad for me... This one offers the monster lock on which is better, and overall better control IMO... Really want it..
Game Impressions Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Want to try this out, but...but...Japanese...
Looks legit 1.1gb download, the PSP ISO was about 1.2gb if I remember correctly. So it seems it is the full port.
lovin' the video, redribbon. great job on that and thanks for the attached information! out of curiosity, how were you able to download it? i've got a japanese app store account but no means of purchasing anything (no japanese debit cards, etc.), haha .. on an unrelated note, i'd be lying if i said i wasn't a pretty big fan of Google Translate's depiction of the app store description. "Game screen as displayed beautifully , I made a graphics optimization ." "※ It is possible to do the download in iPhone 4 , but it will be outside the scope of the operation guarantee , please be careful ."
And so it begins... By the way, although the game is recommended for iPhone 4S and above, it seems to run fine on my iPhone 4 apart from a little lag when there's a lot going on.
This is a very good game actually, so sad that only supported Japanese. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Hmm..seems like there might be hope after all. The game already seems to include some localization files
I dont think emulation is better simply because of the admittedly crappy camera controls. On the PSP, my first month of playing MH gave me hand cramps coz of consistently holding the PSP in "the claw" fashion. It doesnt make it better on the touch screen, but the swipe camera controls on the iOS version seems to be lots better.
thanks. its great that you like the video. about the download, yes I've got friend that live there in japan so i contacted him to get me a gift card. its that easy as long as you got the gift card from selected country. on related note, i bought all the games posted on my youtube channel legally, no matter what. ps. and, just to avoid any confusion and also all the questions that coming from my youtube channel inbox(yes i know who you are), this might pleased you all :
