Yes there is one err two. Complete all quests with the elder and it'll appear, iirc it's called "The Final Invitation"
Im pretty sure you can carve it off the body, so it should be in the rewards as well. Small chance, but it should. Pink Rathian should give the highest chance for a brainstem.
Beat the Tigrex! Yeah! Probably the ugliest MH battle I've ever fought, carted twice, missed with almost all my flash bombs, and had a sliver of life. He was coming at me and I was literally a second away from getting smashed when I landed the finishing blow on his head. This is why I love this game.

Thanks! Although I still feel I got a bit lucky as opposed to "solving" the monster. My milestones have been slightly different given my play style. Kutku - skill for autotracker Khezu - Learn a ranged weapon(bow) Plesioth - Learn patience and that you hate plesioth Blangonga - Learn to try different weapons(LS) I'm still running around in hunter's armor for autotracker(I know, I know) but Tigrex was kind of a wake up call.

lol no prob. The Akantor is huge and deals a lot of damage, but at least its moves have long startup and recovery. The most annoying ones by far are his charge and the attack where he screams and fireballs come from the floor. Those are the best moments to use a flash bomb, but I don't have any
I need 25.000z more before I can get my first "blue sharpness" GS. Anyone know an easy way to farm money? My best way is to farm the troublesome pair quest, but I'm tired and a bit lazy right now. Other than the Armor/Power Seed farming at the farm...
Go to the gathering hall and choose "2 Colors of Meow" in the event quests, it's easy, and as a reward you can get silver and golden eggs, which are worth respectively 10.000z and 20.000z I would do the quest without carrying any items with you.
After 5-6 tries when Pscience said to do the Elder instead of 2* Guild Kut-ku quests - full Kut-ku set FINALLY! I consider this my own personal milestone!
