Yes, finally completed my full obituary armor set. The tough part was farming great hornflies. They are super-rare at my level, with only the insect thicket +1 available to me at the moment. Now to see if this helps me defeat that damn Tigrex!

That Giadrome thing just happened to me last night! I thought surely I can reach some part to carve, but I just went back and forth from one area to the next.

Love your cat's name! That's awesome. I've got Rocky fighting next to me. But BonBon is so deceptively pleasant sounding!

Yeah I hate that too...happened to me twice now...thank god it didn't happen while hunting for the Kut Ku...

Haha thanks man! Sometimes I would rather have him behave like a bonbon as he constantly throws bombs at ME while I'm carving...pesky little ba*****. :D

Ugh I've been stuck on the village elder Absolute Power five star urgent quest for over a week now. I've read guides, watched videos, and yet Tigrex is still decimating me.

I used to be a hammer user, but swapped to the Khezu Shock GS and while I can get solid hits in with it, I still seem to consistantly fall short of beating him.

Anyone have any additional tips on taking him out? I bring traps/bombs/etc but this is making the game too frustrating to play lately.

Thanks man! I'm using the dark scythe longsword right now. But I'm going to go onto the iron katanas here shortly. I really like the speed of the longswords and the huge damage. The move set is perfect for me to so I'm glad it's just the type of longsword maybe! Sharpening 4-5 times is not fun! It's kinda wierd because the dark scythe has a lot of sharpness on the bar Thing when looking at it in your chest.

I can't even play multiplayer, but I managed to kill him solo with my ceanataur head axe (hammer).
Make sure you have the right attacking style on his stomach to maximise damage over time.
Bring bombs to break his horn, do damage, and stagger him.
Jump onto his back and place the anti dragon bomb, which staggers him and does fair damage.
Read/watch some guides to get a better overview of mats to bring, when to do what etc.

Your main goal is to stagger him so that he takes longer to get to the last area, where he actually does damage to the fort, which will give you an auto-fail if destroyed.

Lance is the best weapon to take on Lao. Easy, and effective. Hits where it hurts most, and you almost never miss the stomach.

Hammers, GS and LS are good weapons against Lao, just because they deal so much damage even if you miss opportunities to hit the stomach.

Bows and HBGs are also good weapons to use, because it hits Lao's back (the furry part where you jump on to carve and plant ADBs) which is his main weakspot.

Other weapon types are very difficult to complete with. I have done G-Rank Lao with an SnS twice on the PSP, and only repel him both times.

If you are just trying to complete the mission (as opposed to farming), i strongly suggest not to try carving the back anymore, and use the time to deal as much damage as possible.

I have no idea how much damage Anti-Dragon Bombs do to Lao's Back, but im pretty sure it's "somewhat" worth it to stop attacking the stomach and run all the way up to a platform to jump onto his back and place the ADBs.

I use somewhat because i have NEVER used ADBs on Lao, except in mutiplayer when everyone's longswords or demon dance just trips me too much down in the stomach.

This is both correct and wrong.

If you stagger him too much, you may not have enough time to kill him in the final area. LAO CAN NEVER DIE UNLESS HE IS IN THE LAST AREA. On the bright side, you can prevent damage to the fort, and you should still be able to deal enough damage to repel him.

Anyone know where I can get a Monster bone + ? I need it for one of the pieces for my Garuda set!

I'm only at elder quests 4 and haven't done any guild quests yet!

    Thanks!

You can also work on armor that lessens Sharpening duration or lessens the impact on Your Weapon's Sharpness - if you dislike sharpening so much. ;)

Yeah that's true, I was just giving tips on overall PASSING the quest, but if you wanted to KILL him it's a different matter

Many of us forum users don't mind answering these questions and helping out others, but it would actually be faster for you to look it up on google, since you don't have to wait for one of the other players to reply.

If it's a controversial issue or complex question/question not answered in the first link google comes up with, we would be more than happy to help out :)

As for your question, monster bone + can be easily obtained from daimyo hermitaur.

I got mine from daimyo hermitaur as well; did my farming with the dual daimyo hermitaur quest. Kut Ku also drops it it in 3* guild, but not sure at which elder level he drops it.

    Yeah, tenacity. But also important:

    softly, softly, catchee monkey.

Which is "literally" true in terms of Monster Hunter. Reminds me that I sooo love that farting Congalala dude. :D
