It's shared. I learned it the hard way too :(

What you got, if I understood you right, was a material. You need to craft the item by talking to the guy next to the lady who seals items to craft equips, as long as you have the needed materials.

Yeah the armor guy will show you what you can make with what materials. You actually can't put a raw dead bulldrome head on your own head..

Yeah that would be kinda gross... Raw bull head...on your head... Lol. After spamming the chats for an hour asking people, all I had to do was ask it on TA. Lol thanks!

So if I want to try a new weapon what do you guys recommend. Right now I really like the longsword and have gotten pretty far with it but I'm really annoyed by how many times you have to sharpen it. Is there anything that is somewhat like longsword?

There's something awry about any online dealing with Plesioth it seems. I either can't get anyone else to come with me to hunt him, and when I do, either they all die in the first few minutes or they just inexplicably drop their connection.

I mean, I don't like fighting him that much either, but the time-consuming aspect is mitigated by team play. I just don't get why everyone drops like flies against him when he's one of the least damaging big wyverns for me solo.

3 kitty carts shared among the team fails the mission.

Uh... Plesioth is one of the hardest hitting monsters, but his attack intervals are pretty huge, so you almost always have the time to run away after being hit and heal up.

Tons of players struggle against plesioth coz of the HUGE hitbox off his tail spins and hipchecks. New players usually get tagged by his land swim attack too which does a bit of damage as well.

Not a lot of players know proper MOI abuse, and not a lot of players use Lances and/or Gunlances which are actually pretty noob friendly weapons against plesioth.

I know he can do a lot of damage. I don't think he should be one-shotting three people at a time with a hip-check every time I try to get a party together though.

I could really do without him being a requirement for HR 3. It's one issue I always had with MH where a couple nice people can pretty much yank someone with no talent and no time invested in the game up to a high level just by doing a handful of the right quests with them and someone else can be stuck waiting for people who aren't wusses or incompetent to do one damn quest.

How often you have to sharpen is likely a problem with the actual sword you are using, not the longsword type of weapon. Try upgrading what you're using, or just using a different sword line in general. I used the Iron Katana line up through the eager cleaver and now I have the devil slicer. It's really good and has good endgame potential so I recommend that.

Duals are particularly fun to use, you feel incredibly fast with them and you can deal a ton of damage quickly with them in demon mode. That said you have to watch your stamina and make sure you have enough to roll out of the way after you attack.

I also like hammers. Pretty easy to get into, and nothing is more satisfying than landing a charged super pound on a monster's face. Just need to be mindful of openings, and find the right time to unleash an attack. With both hammers and duals I recommend taking some well-done meat with you to max out your stamina bar initially, since it's much easier when your stamina is maxed out. Right now I have the Anvil Hammer and the Gunhammer prototype, both are pretty solid and have good endgame potential.

I'd look into a bow or a ranged weapon at some point. I don't really like them all that much, but they're very useful against bosses that can't be penetrated (basarios/gravios) or that have unfair melee attach hit boxes and low health (PLESIOTH). I meleed the plesioth, which sucked, but I used the Daimyo warbow for basarios/gravios. It's water element and is powerful against the fire element of basarios/gravios.

How do you find high quality pelt? What do you need to kill to earn it?

I mean I know that's your username, but this is what google is for...
I took 10s and found out that you can carve them from anteka and kelbi in high rank quests. Basically, after you complete the first set of elder quests.

Just curious. I read up on affinity %s and it's somewhat like a critical damage attack (I'm not familiar with criticals)? Is it when the enemies flinch or fall backwards?

Anyhow, my main question is at this point I can fill up ALL my armor slots with the cheapest gem to get Expert (Reckless Abandon +1). Is it worth it for +1 which I think is 10% increase? Currently, my Devil Slicer is 0% affinity and that's the only weapon I use. Is this helpful since I'm not familiar with affinity? Or I can gem slot to get Attack Up +3 (which should be decent). What's preferable? The Expert gems use rare items so I'm assuming expert +1 > attack +3 ?

Finally finished the 3-starred elder quests and the Blangonga urgent quest.

The part that was pretty tough was the Green Plesioth quest on the jungle map.
The key to it was to forget about pride and just go back to sleep at the camp as often as necessary (in the end at least 4-5 times), especially since the area where it hides is so close to the camp.

It must have happened to you all as well but I landed the final hit on the Green Plesioth as it was jumping back in the sea which resulted in the dead body diving in before finally floating up but out of carving range.
The only other time something like this happened before was when I hit back a Giadrome so that it landed dead on the border of two areas.

    So...

High rank anteka iirc. Antekas are the reindeer-look-a-likes.

Affinity is the crit chance. A negative affinity is a chance to deal less damage.

You'll know when criticals occur when there is a RED X flashing when the attack hits, and it's PURPLISH BLUE FLASH on a negative crit.

AUL is a lot better than RA+1. But in between RA+3 and AUL, it's a tossup, depending on the weapon you are using.

    Ahahaha!

That does happen. Worse is when you are carve-farming tails, and the tail ends up inaccessible. :D

Make that 2/2. I managed to tranq and capture him too. I think the Iron Katana Gospel was way better than the Blango Destroyer...:) think I'll go for a third try as you said the Kut Ku Armor is the next go-to armor. :)

Thanks for the tips! Hmm It must pass by too quick for me to notice.. Unless 0% affinity means I'll never critical? Looks like the iron katana has no affinity level.

I guess I'll go for the attack up L. That seems like a good investment rather than using a bunch of items for RA+1

@Kylie: Great job again. Capturing will get more important later when good materials are really rare. So good thing you're learning now. I think I started capturing way later than the Kut Ku.
