Hahaha! The good ol' claw. I remember that finger-killin' exercise.
Cam adjustment never was more fun... ouch.

But don't get me wrong - I am really excited if the controls are that good! I normally prefer physical controlling stuff, but I'm always willing to accept a lesson in seeIvetoldya. ;)

I know I have to try for myself, but I am highly sceptical at the moment. This game does not allow you to mess and miss a lot.

yeahh, i remember not being able to play the bow class at all because it would demand a more active claw hand haha
and believe me, your skepticism is 100% understandable
despite the controls working really well in this case, i agree that they're still not going to amount to a physical controller (and i don't think touch controls ever will) but it was refreshing to play a port that didn't feel like the controls were a compromise and actually worked well
all in all, i was pleasantly surprised and am happy to say that this felt just like playing a monster hunter game (which is a lot more than i initially gave it credit for), and before long i found myself pulling combos and maneuvers just like on the console versions, and in this particular game's case, with even a little bit more ease than with the psp :)

The only complaint i have with regards to controls is the sensitivity of item selection while in a hunt. Sometimes, when i tap in the middle of the screen to drink a potion, it actually scrolls to the next item and not consume any. It can get irritating at times, but hey, the touch control translations surprisingly work very well.

The camera controls here is better than the claw, but i got used to that anyways. :D

The view lockon is a handy addition. At first i hated it, but then i grew to adjust to it.

Same with me. I have the official MHP2G app from the japan store, I patched it with MHVuze's patch then I signed the app with zeusmos, that was fine but when i try to install with iFunbox it fails. I also tried installing straight from the zeusmos app on my iPhone and when I try to play the game it crashes after the capcom logo pops up. Not sure if i'm missing something out.

Finally captured my first monster :D Now I'm going for Kutku ears.. that's a little bit more difficult.

As the controls are, the layouts are all well made. Only lay out I would change is when going through the storage box, I hate the arrow buttons being all the way at the top of the screen and being so small. That one annoys me the most..

I was... until... I tried treasure quests.

At first they were fun but I wanted to add some trophies to my guild card and after 3 hours+ straight of playing the snowy mountains WITH a guide (telling me where the unique treasures are), I got NONE. I even have a headache now.

Seriously, all I wanted was just ONE since i hated the blank space on the card. For combination materials I'd always get one item but not the other. Giadrome would never drop the jewel after I've killed him 6-7 times. Got the Elder Crystal once then it broke because of my stamina running out. Gahh... The rates on that FIRST treasure quest are so unfair. At least make the first map easy. Even when I mined I never got any of the rare items when I mined. There are better drop rates for Rare-5 items on the field than any of those in treasure hunting

Try installing the patched app using apple's iphone configuration utility. It worked for me too

Treasures are a beach to aquire. Make sure you just don't go after the rarest ones first. Keep also in mind that not all treasures show up on your guild card.
But 3 hours straight and nothing? Maybe you're really a bit unlucky here.
Try going for the Princess Scarab. That's one a bit easier to aquire.

edit: here's a really good in-depth guide about hunting for treasures, maybe that helps:

Thanks for the help Vovin! I'll look into that. I finally got 2. Decided to call treasures quits for now.

I decided to try a 2 star guild quest and got owned for the last 2.5 hours. This game suddenly ramped up difficultly :( That Khezu destroyed me so bad. One battle lasted almost an hour and I ended up losing all my lives so it ended (at this point I just reset the game. there's no reason to "save" after losing. you just lose your money and get nothing in return).

I looked at guides but they weren't too much help. At first my sword was bouncing and I realized it wasn't sharp enough so I upgraded it to have some green. I fought for almost and hour and went through 4 weapon sharpners. That guy has so much health it's ridiculous. His movements are easier than the last wyvern but his electric defense is so powerful that if he turns it on while I'm mid-swing, I lose almost a quarter of my health. And don't get me started with his electric belly flop. Almost half my health gone in one hit. > : ( I felt like the jump from 1 star to 2 star was too big a gap, even with my upgraded weapons. I think I need a break haha.. Back to Record of Agarest War.

    Lol, the Khezu.

It's easy if you know how to kick that beast's butt. If not, you're screwed like trying to fight with a table spoon in Dark Souls. :D

The Khezu's main weakness is fire. He's also easier to overcome with some ranged combat. So, a fire weapon is a must, I'd advice using a crossbow (able to shoot fire S1). You can also try apylying some poison on him to weaken him additionally, but it is not a must. Now grab a ton of bolts (90-100 normal S2 bolts, a bunch of Fire S1 and some piercing bolts S2 (around 60 of each should be ok)).
Wear any armor you want, there's no need to care for that.
Go to the zone where the Pepes are and climb up to a ledge to a cavern entrance. Go in, go out, kill a Pepe, then go in again and out and kill another Pepe. Khezu will soon arrive in the zone. Wait until he arrives. From that point (NEVER leave it), shoot him first with the fire ammo, then use pierce. He can't reach you up there and his Thunderblight won't reach you either. After a while, he's seriously hurt and will leave.
Now do the first thing again. Go into cavern, walk out and kill Pepes. He'll reappear and you continue shooting him until he vanishes a second time. Do that a third last time and you will have him down in 20-30 minutes without losing any life. At his third appearance, he should be a wreck already and you just fire at him until he collapses. TA-DA! :D

Never forget: a good hunter uses his surroundings and terrain at best he can. Sometimes it makes a difference and gives you advantages you really need.
Also try different approaches (in combat styles) to fight the various monsters. Some beasts, which seemed to be a pain in the bottom with a certain style, are suddenly much easier to defeat with another style.

Thanks Vovin. I really appreciate it! Nice to get tips from pros. It's like real hunting....... almost. lol.

I'm trying to fuse the items for the battle now. Hope all goes well. And yeah, the worst part is I had NO idea what I was getting into. It was the 1st of the 2 star quests so I was like, should be simple, like a giant gorilla or something. And the description said it was a blob so I was thinking Ditto from Pokemon. So I went around, did some hunting, grabbed some nice items, after 20 minutes, found him. Got destroyed so bad and had to give up all I got. Sad day...

I also don't have any gunner armor. I hope I don't get killed by some random enemy!

Lol, I am no pro at all.
I just used to play a few rounds on my friends PSP long ago.
He was always... excited to borrow me his console for a night. But I never made it really far into the game. That's why I am waiting so desperately for the English release. Maybe... tomorrow? NZ? *starts to pray* ;)

Btw., there's a special "urgent quest" for the Khezu... it's called "a shadow in the snow" or something.
Oh, and don't wonder. The Khezu can't see you. He's a cave dweller and therefore blind.
If you're trying to close combat him, learn his patterns. He is really predictable as soon as you know what he is able to pull off. Stay at his sides.

That surprise is what makes MH a great title. Add the satisfaction of overcoming these surprises, and you have one hell of a gaming experience.

Khezu is easy if you dont get greedy with attacks. He is very slow when not in rage mode, and you can just run around avoiding his front when he's in rage mode. :)

    Haha! :D

As I started Dark Souls for the first time, I also didn't know what I got into. I had one of the most satisfying gaming experiences ever (as well as some nervous breakdowns and a few days of vacation in a mental hospital).
In Dark Souls, at beginning, one single skeleton is harder to kill than all dragons of Skyrim at once.

^Oh i hate Plesioth's hipcheck with a passion. OP hitbox, OP damage.

Someone mentioned the Balloon floating around randomly in open areas in previous pages... You can use the Gesture "Wave" while facing it and it will reveal the monster location in your map for a short while ;)

The amount of nitty gritty detail in this game is really something i like. Like when you upgrade the beehive. Tis basically upgrading your efficiency not just to create more honey, but also efficiency in a way that there arent empty husks or shells anymore, just honey.

Some of the Gestures, like the shadow boxing one (forgot the exact term or it), actually deals damage. :D
