I'm playing this on the moga ace power, I must say it's amazing!! It's the first game that's felt completely seamless in terms of controls, it never misses a button press, feels familiar and is just a dream to use! U also don't have to feel how hot the phone gets when running the game! I have only played for about 5 hours but have played on PsP and WIi before. It really feels psp like using the moga, I was until recently thinking if selling for a Bluetooth one but the charge feature is currently giving me extra play time so I am reconsidering!!
I'm starting to see the "openings" that Pscience has been talking about & how to exploit them, moments after attacks or even just the monster turning to face you, and how to keep yourself out of harm's way. And it took a couple of Training sessions using bows and bowguns against a couple of early monsters. Who would have thought I could kill Khezu of all things having only a limited stock of health potions and items?! I definitely think now that its easier to exploit these openings safely from a distance, as evidenced by my having an easier time completing these training missions using ranged weapons vs the melee options. Now I have to apply the lessons I've learned to melee and close distance.
Thanks for the explanation and the clarification on the 'slide' (which is what I meant but wrongly referred to as 'swipe'). Could you be more specific (if you have played or know how the game plays on PSP, which I don't)? Here is the list of the commands that are available on iOS: - extra button: guard/demonize/recital mode... - unsheath/hit button (+ slide left/slide up/slide right/slide down) - sheathe button - run button (maybe it is the same as the extra button, at least it is for the hunting horn) (+ slide left/slide up/slide right/slide down?) - roll/crouch button - virtual pad and misc.: - menu - focus mode on the large monster - ... How do these commands map to the PSP (triangle, square, cross, circle, R-shoulder...)?
As for this specific point, according to the wikia page it seems that there are combos available to hammer users http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Hammer I am just not sure whether you took it into account when you mentioned the lack of combo
IIRC... PSP - iOS X - Dodge roll /\ - Same as tapping the attack button O - Same as swiping the attack button up [] - Sheathe R - same as the run button L (brings up the item menu) - (not in iOS since they now have the onscreen items list) Other button combinations on the PSP mapping has been simplified with the use of swipe gestures on certain buttons like: While unsheathed (R+X) to run and dodgeroll - Swipe up on the run button While unsheathed (R+X+O) - same as swiping down on the run button There are more, but you get the idea. THERE IS NO CAMERA LOCK-ON ON THE PSP VERSION.
Too bad I can't record vids, but it works for me. Just tried it 3 times on a Giadrome without problems. There is a little delay after the unsheathe/swing and the whole combo needs a bit training. Well, maybe this helps: After running, swipe the run button down, but don't wait for the swing to finish and swipe up the main button and HOLD IT in upper position this time until the stabbing animation starts. Now just tap and swipe down for move 3 and 4. It needs a bit of practice and the timing has to be right.
You cant stab with the "slide main upwards" from a spirit unsheathe. You perform the stab by just tapping attack after the spirit unsheathe, which means you cant chain it into the upward slash. Unless you tap the run button after the stab first, then you can follow with upward slash.
On the off chance no one has answered you yet, you attack with stab attack, then keep hitting the attack button. You will slice upwards, then downwards if you are still hitting attack. It's a pretty good combo for certain openings.
Just tried again, it works for me: unsheathe slash, stab, upper slash, dodge slash. The stab comes with a tiny delay.
I think for the unsheathed slash you mean the "tap-the-attack-button" unsheathe slash, coz that would make your combo legit. Just not possible with the Unsheathed Spirit Slash.
Is the only way to get to G-Rank quests (and the materials) is to go through the guild quests? I'm HR6 and those elder quests... tough to get people to join. I'm on the last leg of the cat quests. Thought I could just do those to get to G, but that's not true, is it? Tried to HR6 Shen approaches by myself and failed.
This port looks really good. I briefly played this game on my ipad with a PSP emulator wich works really well, but this is a very impressive port.
Anybody got tips for Kheezu? Damn thing will not go down no matter what I do. I survived 50 minutes against it, but couldn't drop it. When I played more aggresively it's cheap thunder attacks were unavoidable and I died...
