The impressions in this thread (by various members) said that the controls are very good, so far. Game runs stable at 30fps (iPhone 5), according to another gaming forum. Graphically there were huge improvements in comparisson to the DS Version. I'd suggest buying a controller to fully enjoy this. Touch controls seems to be good but you'll hate to have your fingers on the screen very soon. There are quite a few cheap, but good ones, on Amazon. Honestly, playing this beast with touch controls is just crazy. If this game releases worldwide, I expect that iPhone controller or controller for iPads will sell like never before. And this game will bring iOS gaming to a new scale.
Im jailbroken, so I should be able to use a PS3 controller I think? In any case Im going to wait for the (hopefully soon) English release, so I just want to figure out how Im going to play it.
Can anyone please upload the patch file on mediafire ? I just cant download it from upload.net, i dont know why
Quite possible. But don't you think that the 3GS is a bit old for MHFU? Or do you also have a newer iPhone/iPad?
I have some comments on the system itself. After you play on the touch screen for a few hours, you'll feel mostly fluid. The joystick is a little weird as it's a joystick+directional pad in one. But now everything including moving the camera while battling has been done with ease. Of course using a controller is always better because nothing is on the screen but I'd rather play with just my device and it works well. Another thing I just have to rave about, other than the game being about 1gb (small for this content) and being gigantic, the port is well done. The areas load EXTREMELY fast. I barely notice the loading screen. I'd say that's weird considering that the environments and enemies are pretty vast. I've never felt like I was "waiting" for a load screen. It keeps the appeal big because some games I delete because I'm tired of all the loading. Also random comments about the game itself: I love how after you paint enemies you can see them move from place to place in real time on the map. It feels so much more real than having them disappear then reappear. And the environments really make you feel like you're there from different weather conditions that block paths to night time starry skies (seeing the gas balloon is gorgeous!). My hearing is not that good but at one point I heard birds chirping in the game and I looked outside my own window for birds
Ah thanks for the tips guys! I guess I'll stop until I find wyverns lol. I fought my first wyvern yesterday and it was my most epic battle. I believe it was the kutku (I was trying to cut the tail too) and then he kept running and eventually he was limping and I was amazed how "real" the game was. Then he ran for the last time and I found him sleeping in his home. Finished him there So how can you tell which weapons let you cut the tails then? I'm going all long swords right now. And I tried to capture the 1st wyvern from what I read online but he wouldn't knock out. Saw him asleep, put a trap on him then thew 3 tranq bombs. He was still awake. Are only certain ones capturable?
Well, this sounds pretty promising when the controls work THAT good. I just couldn't imagine to play that game for 6 hrs on touch screen without having finger/thumb cramps or stuff... Everything you've said sounds so good. You don't really help me in waiting for that game to come out worldwide and NOT purchasing it from Japan's Appstore... And yeah, the atmosphere of this game is very special.
Well, after you pee'd in your pants when you see him for the first time, I bet he's destroying everyone with his "nice" charge ability. I'd stay away for him, especially as a beginner. Spoiler I wonder if he's still glitched - you can let him run into a wall where he gets stuck and you might be able to defeat him this way. I'd still suggest a good fire-/thunder-based weapon, like the Khetzu thunder sword.
Cutting weapons can cut tails. Blunt weapons Hammers and Hunting Horns cant cut tails. Lances and Gunlances can cut tails despite the animation of poking and thrusting Bows can cut tails, but very difficult to pull off. To capture, the monster must have taken enough damage to be considered "weak". To tell whether a monster is ready for capture, most monsters, as you have noticed will be limping away. That's the "tell" the you can capture in most of them. The less obvious ones, like the Hermitar and Ceanataur, they will be frothing purple bubbles in their mouths. I dont remember much of the other monsters that dont usually limp. Also, when you have trapped a weak monster, it will only take 2 Tranq bombs to cap.
Hmm I tried capturing the Kutku again and no luck. He limped off then went to sleep, I set up the trap then threw all my stuns at him. Didn't knock out. Is there a problem with my cat hitting it while I'm tranq'ing it?
Not a glitch. Some monsters will get stuck in certain walls which would give you some openings. Tigrex, Diablos and Monoblos are ones i can remember. Pretty useful tactic if you are using weapons with the block ability. Stand in front of the wall, and put your shield up. The monster will end up getting stuck in the wall behind you. Mind this only happens in certain areas.
Opps sorry they were tranqs. I just mistyped that. The boxes for that mission come with 3 tranqs and an electric trap. So when he's resting after I made him limp, I set the trap, then threw the tranqs at him. Didn't knock him out like I'm reading :\
i honestly think you should try the controls out before taking jabs at 'em. having played monster hunter games on various consoles before, i was pretty skeptical that they would work on a touch screen as well (and granted, they do take a little bit of warming up to) but the multi-functional buttons and their screen-reserving positioning actually makes the game more than playable. in all honesty, i actually find this a lot more comfortable to play on my ipod than it had been on the psp, but that's mostly due to (as was pointed out in the neogaf forum) not having to "claw" the d-pad in order to control the camera
