Only on first high rank quest rank for both guild and village. Generally it IS cheaper (in materials) to upgrade, but it takes elder dragon bones, which is rarer than the mats to craft outright (I think) Here's a link to the items upgrade/craft mats needed: http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/Hard_Bone_Hammer What should I do?
Elder dragon bones are pretty common. Daora and Chameleos are easiest if you know how to approach the fight. But tis up to you to take whatever route you wish to take to get your new hammer. I suggest you also work to get the Juggernaut hamer. Just google it's upgrade path. One of the best end-game (not that there's any end) hammers that you can max out as soon as you hit g-rank.
Yeah I've set myself up for all the best/good hammers- anvil hammer, kut-ku pick, dead revolver, great axe hammer, lao hammer Back to the hard bone hammer though, minus the small materials, I can either use 5 EDB and 2 stout bones, or just 5 stout bones. I don't know which bone is more valuable though. === What's a good way to farm ivy? I need it for nets, but the only way I know how to get it is by gathering at the top of vines. Also, where can I get nova crystal? Are there any items unique to the great forest? I noticed there aren't any gathering quests for the location, so if there is il have to gather on the go Thanks
This MH TA community is awesome. Always helping each other out. I'm nearly finished with all the Elder 3-star quests and have yet to taste any form of online, but when I do I have a sense the wonderful folk here will be willing to help out. In the many years I've owned an iDevice and throughout the countless games, this is my favorite release. And I'm new to the series.
Finally, got the game to work. The touch controls aren't horrible. I did notice the lvl 2 charge attack of the hammer is different than the later games. Not that i need that particular attack, i just liked to use the uppercut and it covered some distance aswell.
Can monsterhunter be played on an IPhone without much compromise or will playing it on the iPad be a far better experience gameplay wise ? I have both , but my iPad is almost full so I would have to clean up , on my iPhone I have plenty of space. So should I cleanup space or will the iPhone do as well?
I don't own an iPad but I can tell you that it performs beautifully on an iPhone. You have to get a LITTLE used to the controls but it's not a big deal imho. Don't know if playing on an iPad is more comfortable though (because of "bigger" buttons)!
I agree it is supremely playable on iphone, I'm impressed at how responsive it is and how capcom managed to compress the numerous buttons into simple controls without compromising functionality. Plus when playing I have not found the screen cluttered and unlike the iPad it fits in my pocket. The downside it is one hell of a battery eater.
+1 for that. But I guess this isn't the kind of game you would really play on a bus-drive or something like that. Not that I wouldn't want to...but I guess I would even suck more than I already do at home
One question that came into my mind when I thought about what weapon to focus on next: how do you get to know the weaknesses of the monsters? I know I could simply look them up on a wiki but that doesn't feel right...
This is why raw (no elements) weapons were my go-to weapons back when i first started MH. Other than that, there are a few hints if you havent unlocked their armors yet. 1. If a monster spews fire, chances are it is weak to ice, or maybe water. 2. If the monster seems to like water (the crabs, and the infamous fish) they are usually weak to thunder, and minor weakness to fire 3. If the monster has feathers or fur (take note: feathers, but not necessarily bird wyverns), they are usually weak to fire. 4. Those whose natural habitats are cold areas, are usually weak to fire. 5. On the other hand, those who like the desert areas are usually weak to ice. 6. elder dragons are usually weak to dragon element. That said, if you have unlocked their armors, you should be able to tell the weakness of the monster by looking at the resistances the armor provides. These are general tips to determine their weaknesses, but some monsters may not follow these general rules.
Thank you! Thanks EP for the extensive explanation. I think I'll focus on raw damage first and when I got a little more experience with the enemies will forge some specialized weapons.
Is the tigrex hammer any good? I know it branches off to either a greater tigrex hammer or a narga hammer, but which is better? I don't want something I won't end up using because it's outclassed by my other things
