I'm having some trouble with plesioth as a lancer. I can't seem to find a good place to attack him from without being completely open to his attacks. Any pointers? I may try gunlance on him if I can't take him out this go round.
In front of his legs. You should be outside his step range when he moonwalks. Block the hipcheck and poke him high on the stomach a couple times. repeat,.
I don't like diablos. I can beat him, but I just don't enjoy his presence. I think it's because I don't get many large windows for attack
Super pounding his tail is the fastest way to kill him with hammers. openings are when he unburrows, and right after his short charge
I've skipped plesioth till I'm stronger, since it's not needed to advance to next set of village quests... He beat my brains in using a Sns, gunlance and Ls... I threw in towel
Dude, plesioth... What a pain in the ass this guy is. I had a hard time with khezu but it was different than plesioth. Plesioth has huge range, but a small hitbox. It also doesn't help that his attacks are just plan hard to read. The best advice I can offer, from someone who still hasn't bested him, is to stick with the weapons you're proficient with, rather than starting over with a new weapon every time you lose. Good luck though man, I know that guy is a pain.
On the contrary, he's pretty easy to read. When you are outside his "head radius" he will most likely perform the water beam. Occasionally, he will either do tail spins like a retard (coz you are obviously out of range), or do a radial water beam in which case you need to run closer to plesioth and deal some damage through this small opening. Dont get greedy. When you are inside his head radius, always assume that his next attack is the stupid hipcheck. Occasionally he will do a tail spin though, so if with a blocking weapon, just be mindful of the direction you block. If at anytime he turns and doesnt face you or any of your cats, he's taking a plunge back into the water. Take note of where he launched himself when he jumped into the water, coz that is ALWAYS the spot where he does that. Abuse it with a shock or pitfall trap. Here's the thing... Plesioth has VERY LOW HP. Which means, all you have to do is hit him once or twice (with slow weapons) or 3-4 hits with faster weapons. This means the fight will last as long as any other monster takes, but will take only a fewer hits. If you can learn how to use the MOI in the dodge, or abuse evade+ skills to make it easier, you will be able to take him down much faster. I havent tried it on iOS yet, but back on the PSP i could take on G-Rank plesioth and clock only about 5 minutes for the kill.
Yea I tried it today, if you do this it will reset all your settings back to as if it was a brand new device, however, no data is erased/deleted such as music/photos/movies ETC. Although it did fix some communication errors for me, I still get some from time to time every 1-2 hours or so and I have to restart the app to fix it. The problems this fixed for me was when entering a hall and gamecenter prompting you to log in, also fixed the error where gamecenter said it couldn't connect to the server, and when I leave a hall to change armor and rejoin I don't get the automatic connection error anymore.
No matter how much i hit monsters with the Paralyze LS, i cant seem to proc the paralyze as much as i can with a paralyze lance. I think i'll revisit the damage formula regarding status damage. Im really enjoying LS recently, like 90% of my last runs we're all with an LS, and i now have 59 uses of LS, when it was only 4 or 5 before i started using it a lot.
Okay, holy...wow I don't usually like JRPGs so I always ignored Monster Hunter games. This is my first. I was going to get the new MC game but then I read the TA review. That part about needing to plan ahead, have a strategy...holy shit, that is so my kind of thing. So that and all the positive reviews and impressions here made me decide to drop $15 on an IOS game So that's actually like the most expensive IOS game I ever bought. I'm still only in the School/Tutorial, but I can't believe how good the touch controls are. Yeah, I'm that crazy dude who is playing this with touch controls instead of controller. Graphics are amazing, just so freaking damn good.
I find it funny that everyone that has played this posts a praise-post first, and then about 10 posts later they are asking for help/tips/strategies It shows that this game actually inspires people to talk and communicate about a common interest
No, no, I meant crazy only for this game. Like every single review says you should play this with a controller.
I have been using the touchscreen the whole way through so far and all I can say is that anything is better than "the claw".
Generally status attacks are better with lighter weapons, I use sword and sheild and when I fight a monster I usually paralyse it at least 6 times. Longsword should be good for it too if you spirit combo a lot so maybe your para stat is quite low.
Tis a given that SnS is THE status weapon of choice. But in these, i inflict about 2-3 para procs in multiplayer with the lance, and only once with the LS (pretty rare to proc twice). Darkness Lance: 250 Para Attrib AncientSlayrDrgnwdLS: 270 Para Attrib In fact, i just tested with DivineAncDrgnwdFlute (260 Para Attrib), and i proc'd paralyze 2 times in 2 separate runs. This is all done on Black Diablos by the way. All 3 weapon when i played them, i had Status Atk Up, and in my setups each one had purple sharpness. Im guessing the formula has something to do with it. Im not in the mood to do some research though.
This was actually really helpful, along with everything else in your post. Once I realized he didn't go back to the water while in rage mode I decided to give bows another go despite the low damage. It took a bit but I finally beat him! Yeah!
I'm in the process of building up a Felyne healer, but I'm not sure whether it would be better to have a peace-loving or cowardly felyne. Peace-loving has a lower healing rate, but it also doesn't spend time attacking. Plus, cowardly felynes use bomb primarily, and bombs are really annoying when they hit you with them. But cowardly, has a really high heal rate, which makes me think they're best for support. Anyone have any suggestions?
Khezu hood and arm pieces aren't showing up yet in my crafting menu, though I've killed khezu about three or four times now. Surely I must be missing a component, but which one is it? I've got flabby hides and pale fluids aplenty.
