I have been mind blown by this game. I've been a 'hardcore' gamer since getting my first nes and have played probably every game that needs be played since that day! But somehow this franchise had slipped the net! I had seen glimpses of it, but it didn't appeal and I didn't think it was going to be anywhere near as deep as it actually is! How wrong could I be! Thing is freakin epic!
MH is one of those games where you will be pretty overwhelmed by your own progress. Like remembering how difficult it was to beat a monster at your first try. And then dozens of hunts later you can pretty much predict their movements with just a few frames of their animation, or even when their off screen you can practically sense what each critter is doing and position yourself accordingly, haha That kind of satisfaction is pretty rare in games nowadays
Just found a list of item Combinations. I feel like I'm about to blow the game wide open now also switched to gun lances and I'm pretty Impressed so far!
And because of Pscience's great Lance / Gunlance post I was encouraged to try out the weapon I was least inclined to try - the GunLance! Doing well so far but just entering into Congala and Yut-ku quests so wish me luck! On a side note - finishing a hunt with the Wyvern's Fire does not make a good Finishing screenshot at all! (All you see is fire! Hahaha)
Glad to see you're enjoying the game, it's amazing how quiet this game is in the world. In Japan it's hugely popular but Capcom is always very skeptical with the popularity in the western world. It's disappointing because so many people are missing out on the most immersive game that I've ever played, hopefully the ios release will help the title be heard but honestly it is so easy to get lost in this game after a couple of hours. Through the series I must have spent about 1000 hours between each of the games through the masses of content that each game contains. Great to see newcomers to the series enjoying it. A lot of mainstream gamers would easily give up on this title.
Oh boy finally managed to put it down. This thing is my nemesis. And I'm using a bowgun now. What are your thoughts on this weapon type?
Guys sorry for reposting this but i really need an answer to this, at this point this is making the game unplayable for me and i might just give up on it.
Heavy bowguns + Auto-reload in particular are OP. With Auto-reload, you NEVER have to reload. You just roll and fire til you run out of that ammo. Its catch is that it adds a huge recoil to your shots, but elemental shots and normal shots are never affected by recoil.
I wanted to go the Bowgun route as well at first but was scared I'd run out of ammo or money / materials trying to make them... do you just buy the ammo or craft them? Do you usually find yourself farming materials just to make them?
I had to craft some of my ammo once I upgraded my weapon, but once I got to the 4 star quests, the shops started carrying my ammo so I only have to craft one of the bullets. I tend to just buy all my ammo. I have so much cash it doesn't really phase me when it comes to restocking supply.
I usually use hammers, but I swapped to the kutku stave 1 bow and basic hunter armor for this guy. Took a while to wear him down and not get one shotted by his electro-jump, but he's fairly easy to hit without too much risk with a bow. It didn't require too much in the way of resources to make either, so if you get frustrated or just get tired of beating on him with a mallet, you can always try shooting him to death.
I've just unlocked nekoht quests! I'm a bit overwhelmed with the armor. Could someone please explain the difference between s and u series armor? Also, what is a good quest for gathering? All her quests seem to be action packed boss fighting quests Now that I can get high rank gear, what hammer should I get? I'm not doing g rank for a while, so only high rank suggestions pls
S series armors are generally high rank versions of the armor you already are familiar with, but the armors will usually have better skill sets with them. Obviously, the armor class will be higher. They are also rarity-5 series. U series armors are the same, but are differently colored versions of the armors. These generally have a different set of armor skills. Also, they tend to have more slots in total. They are labeled rarity-6 armors. You will also eventually unlock rarity-7 armors, which are the higher versions of the "pink text" armors. These are from more unique materials (higher rarity materials that were not available before), or from high rank elder dragons.
