No problem. Farming for Velociprey gear is just as easy as farming for Giaprey gear, but you'll get more mileage out of the Velociprey gear. I just now retired my Velociprey Armor for my Kut-Ku Armor, and that was after farming Khezu for Electro Sacs for my Eager Cleaver.
Well done, it will get easier, it just takes a while to learn your weapon and get the correct mindset to play the game. Keep an eye out for plesioth later in the game, it's very similar to cephadrome but it is a very awkward fight. Quite easily my least favourite monster.
Just hop in, this game is purely understanding the opening and timing of each monster. You'll die quiet a few times but with time you'll get it.
The training school has a lot mores stuff in it than just the beginner quest things. It's got a lot of info
Has anybody found a way to fix communication errors online? Such as port forwarding and such? You think setting up my device on DMZ will help fix the disconnects?
Congrats! I'm almost in that quest myself - just finishing up on farming for full Diaprey armor and upgraded weapons. I'm mostly using my hammer but did craft a Heavy sword and a Lance just to see how I might like them compared to my hammer. Did you use Sonic bombs to get the Landshark out?
I'm doing the weapon tutorial at the moment and boy...I have a hard time hitting those "fast" Giaprey with the larger weapons...is that normal or is it just me?!
You just need to adjust to the way your "new" weapon handles. I'm having widrawal symptoms from moving away from my hammer as well - Took the relatively easy Bulldrome quest to see how I would fare with a Great Sword and got defeated a couple of times before finally killing it (thereby taking more than half of the gold quest rewards ). After being used to the Bulldrome getting dizzied by my hammer my Great sword kept on bouncing off of the Bulldrome! I think I'm coming back to my Bullhead hammer for now... hahaha. What larger weapons are you having difficulty with?
Especially with the GS, the LS and the HH. I always want to attack them and then they jump away. Right now I'm testing the lance and I think I like it! The ability to block and the long range attack is awesome
Personally I think LS is pretty easy, if you are having issues picking a weapon try it out. And HBG becomes an absolute cake walk after you get to high guild quests.
I know I used Sonic Bombs even if I am sporting the War Drums (HH) : the supersonic wave attack is quite hard to pinpoint on the Cephalos/Cephadrome. The interest of the Sonic Bombs/Supersonic wave is that they stun the monsters for a short moment before they get up. If you skip on the Sonic Bombs prepare for a long moment of running after it waiting for the thing to come up.
People are saying the gun lance is way better than the regular lance, and I kinda feel like giving the lance a go, since so many people are loving it. Could someone make a comparison between the lances and gun lances? Eg pros of lances, things lance does better or vica versa
The weapons are very similar as the name suggests but personally I prefer the gunlancr. The main difference is that the lance gives you a charge ability where you can run at a monster and score a lot of hits. The lance also tends to be faster than the gunlance. The gunlance however allows you to fire off a shotgun like shell mid-combo when fighting which can be really useful against certain monsters. The main point to remember about the gunlance is that it has a special attack called a wyvern's fire shot where the gunlance is charged up and unloaded into the monster, it is extremely powerful and it likely to sweep the monster straight off their feet but it takes a long time to cool down.
Lance Pros: - Charging attack. Innate ESP (no bounce), decent damage, good vs tripped huge monsters to run down through their body dealing consistent damage, while ending outside their range, usually behind the monster where it's safe. - easy high poke combos that can be strung together by backhops (dodge button) - holding the "backwards" direction enables 1.5x range on the backhop (but doing so in the first or second backhop ends the backhop string) - TRIPLE BACKHOP. This is what makes Lance so much better at positioning compared to gunlance. Take note that each backhop can be changed in hop direction (left, right, or backwards) - evade+ skills makes the lance OP because of the triple backhop skill, which can be inputted anywhere after ANY attack except mid charging attack. - has a solid blocking ability Gunlance Pros: - looooong combos through stringing stabs and shelling. - blocking stab hits high (very important in safe-poking) - shelling has innate ESP (doesnt bounce), deals true damage (not affected by monster armor or elemental resistances) - hits really high. (vertical shelling is a good tactic versus the rathalos trio, and works well versus the Fatalis Trio as well) - running stab. good range for initiating your offense and getting into position for block-stabbing - Wyvern fire. Gunlances version of the Greatsword's charged attack. - very safe guard skill - guard+ skill makes the gunlance OP. - only one moster to farm in G-rank taht gives OP skills to gunlance: Gravios set gives guard+ and guard inc (block ANYTHING including gas attacks and other attacks you normally cant block). The downside is that it has to be gravios. - because... GUNLANCE. Other notable comparisons: - on most monsters, Lances will deal a higher DPS. Lances really suck against rathalos though... and Fatalis. - gunlance is REALLY good versus all rathalos and Fatalis types. That 6 types or VERY USEFUL ARMORS. - lances are very multiplayer friendly. only your charging attack can annoy your allies. gunlances on the other hand can get you cursed on by allies if you hit them with shelling or wyvern fire - gunlances are soooo much cooler coz they are basically lances that can blast things. - Lances can use each of its attacks freely, gunlances have to reload shelling, and has a huge cooldown on their wyvern fire. - Evade+ is much better used on Lances, while Guard+ is much better on Gunlances. - Both Lances and Gunlances are really good weapons versus hermitaurs and ceanataurs. I hope this opens up more Lance and Gunlance users! These are really good weapons, but a little difficult to start out with coz they arent your traditional weapons in any game you've ever played.
Lol loved that write up. "Because Gunlance." If I was a GL user I'd quote that. I'll get to it one day. I remember I tried the Gunlance at one hunt and I didn't feel any chemistry. But gun + sword = awesome. Reminds me of a Gunblade in FF8.
Because of this maestro of a write-up - may I respectfully ask that you do the same for the other weapon types as well?! Pleasssseee...
